Morrison, now 42, hasn’t fought since defeating Matt Weishaar by a 3rd round TKO way back in February 2008.

It’s unclear why Morrison has decided to get back in the ring after that much time off because you would have to figure that Morrison is too old to do much in the ring. Against Weishaar, Morrison was gasping for breath both in between and during the rounds, as he looked really out of shape in terms of wind power. Morrison still showed excellent right hand and left power in that fight, but his hand speed had diminished. Morrison made a comeback in 2007 after being out of the ring for 11 years from 1996 to 2007. Morrison defeated John Castle by a 1nd round TKO. It was thought that Morrison would continue to fight regularly after that, but he disappeared and didn’t fight against until a year later.

In an interview at boxingtalk.com, Morrison explains that he wants to fight “four to six fights” and start looking to get some fights. Morrison says he wants to make some “decent money,” which sounds alright as long as he doesn’t disappear again after one fight.

Morrison s going to have to really speed up the pace of how often he fights if he wants to make good money. If he could fight three to four times per month and work his way up to one of the fringe contenders, Morrison could get lucky and find himself being selected by one of the heavyweight champions like the Klitschko brothers and/or David Haye if he doesn’t retire in the near future.
