By Chris Williams: Naazim Richardson, the trainer for Shane Mosley, sees his fighter beating Manny Pacquiao in a huge upset win on May 7th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In an article at the examiner.com, Richardson says “I think the Pacquiao fight with Shane will give him [Mosley] a chance to do what he has done several times before. You’ve seen Shane lose to Vernon Forrest. [Ricardo] Mayorga slashed Vernon Forrest. Then Shane smashed Mayorga. You’ve seen Shane lose to [Miguel] Cotto. [Antonio] Margarito slashed Cotto. Then Shane smashed Margarito.”

Richardson is correct. It’s all about styles. Just because one fighter can beat another doesn’t mean they necessarily will beat some other guy. Of course, Mosley won’t help himself any if he runs out of gas after only two rounds like he did against Floyd Mayweather Jr. last year in May. Mosley has to be able to fight hard for the duration of the Pacquiao fight if he wants to get the win.

I’m not counting on Mosley knocking Pacquiao out, so he’s got to figure he’s going to have to work hard for the win and figure out a way to neutralize Pacquiao’s hand speed and punch output some way. Pacquiao is very beatable if you can counter him with hard shots.

This is precisely what Juan Manuel Marquez did to Pacquiao in their two fights in the past. Marquez was able to take advantage of Pacquiao’s aggressive style of fighting by landing in between his punches and making him look bad much of the time.
