By Frank Livingstone: There have been reports that offers have been received from Japan and the Middle East to host one of the Pacquiao fights. This was revealed by Bob Arum over the weekend. Michael Koncz had preliminary discussions last year about the possibility of holding the Pacquiao/Margarito fight in Abu Dhabi but it didn’t push through with Dallas getting the nod for the fight. But it certainly did get the oil rich nation a glimpse of the potential value of a fight in the future.

The last mega fight held in Japan was the big upset victory of Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson in February 1990. The report mentioned that Tokyo dome which can accommodate up to 55,000 people as a possible venue for the Pacquiao fight.

The Pacquiao phenomena have certainly reached the shores of Japan and the Middle East and this would certainly ignite the boxing interest in these countries. Bob Arum mentioned that Manny would still fight until 2013 which would mean a probability of up to six fights.

But Arum is not getting too excited at this stage as Pacquiao has to cross the Mosley hurdle first come May 7. But if he can indeed get past Mosley, the possibilities are endless for the Congressman of Sarangini with even a fight in Beijing sometime in the future is not out of the question. That would be sensational as the Bruce Lee of boxing can certainly draw some fireworks and excitement to fans around the world.
