Marquez will be easy fight for Pacquiao

Image: Marquez will be easy fight for PacquiaoBy Juan dela Cruz: Juan Manuel Marquez already had his time twice in facing Manny Pacquiao, in 2004 and 2008. One was a draw and the other was a very narrow split decision. Boxing fans are divided on the issue whether who won or who lost that fight. But admittedly, Marquez gave Manny real problems in the ring during those times, and even Pacquiao fans themselves believe that the fight could have gone either way.

With that kind of fights between the two, a few believe that there was still an unfinished business that needs conclusion, a belief by some who were still stuck with the years 2004 and 2008. It is already 2011, a day past 2010 and a lot had already changed especially to Manny Pacquiao. In skills, stamina, strength and power, trainer Freddie Roach and conditioning coach Alex Ariza were able to morphed Pacman into a perfect fighting machine. He demolished bigger fighters with ease and even gave them the beatings they never had before, rearranging their faces, cracked bones, kissing the canvass gasping for air, sending them to retirement, making them human punching bags, and most importantly, giving the boxing fans the entertainment no other boxer were able to do.

Manny Pacquiao is now a natural welterweight. He tried going up higher but he paid the toll. He was hurt by Antonio Margarito in their fight for the junior middle weight title and he felt uncomfortable in that zone although giving Antonio a boxing lesson he never had before. And so he decided to go down to welter where Pac is at ease. At welter, Manny is very strong and agile, still packed with power and stamina and can throw 5-punch (and even more) combinations. All people, to include JMM’s fans, see a different Manny Pacquiao compared when they last face each other. At this point in time, Marquez has no business with Manny. He can drink anything he wants and believe his pee made him strong, but at the end of the day, he will be an easy fight for Pacquiao.

Marquez’s fans and Pacquiao haters insisted that boxing fans want to see Marquez-Pacquiao 3, but unfortunately, they can not argue judiciously why the fight should happen. All they can say is that Marquez has Manny’s number. And again I will repeat, yes he had, but that was years ago when Manny is still in lightweight. I never heard any of Pacquiao haters analyze Manny and Marquez’s skills at this point in time especially at welter. All they can say is Marquez won those fights. (So why fight for the third time if Marquez believe he won both fights?) When Marquez climb to welter to fight Floyd, he was a D- fighter who barely moved an inch. With that kind of boxer, he will be lucky to last for 2 rounds against Pacquiao and I don’t know what will make the fight exciting. Marquez and his fans are bragging that he KO’d Katsidis in their fight. Oh my! What’s extra ordinary with that? Even senior citizen fighter (Joel Casamayor) was able to KO Katsidis. And on the business side, Marquez can’t even sell a ticket.

Marquez was a great boxer, unfortunately, his pee might have entered his brain and caused some irreparable damage that made him delusional. He should stay at lightweight or if he really wants a piece of Manny Pacquiao, he should prove himself by fighting at welter and face some of Manny’s leftover, Hatton, Margarito, Clottey or he can have a try at Berto although I believe he can’t even get a point with neither one of them. Pacquiao had already cemented his legacy in boxing, whether we like it or not, he is already in the annals of boxing history as one of the greatest. He doesn’t need Juan Manuel Marquez.
