Khan’s fans point to this win and the fact that Maidana lost a controversial 12 round decision to Kotelnik last year as their proof that Khan will beat Maidana next month.

If you ask them if they’ve seen the Maidana-Kotelnik fight and noted that Maidana probably should have been given the decision, they often say they never saw the fight, yet they still use the outcome of that fight as the reason why they think Khan will beat Maidana.

It’s sad, really. If you look at how badly Kotelnik was beaten up by Maidana in that fight, it’s hard to come to any conclusion other than Kotelnik has a great chin and an ability to take a lot of punishment. His face looked like it had been kicked multiple times by a big horse.

Does anyone really think Khan can take the kinds of shots that Kotelnik took against Maidana and still remain standing? I don’t think he can. In fact, I’m dead certain that Khan will get knocked cold by Maidana and beaten to a pulp.

For Khan to survive for any length of time, he’s going to have to run like no tomorrow. The problem is Victor Cayo, a good light welterweight, tried the same thing against Maidana and was still knocked out in the 6th round. I don’t think it’s possible to run and survive against Maidana.

You have to fight him or else get taken out. Khan won’t fight him, because he knows he’ll get knocked out quickly. Instead, I see Khan going out like a lamb by running and then getting stretched when he’s caught on the ropes.
