What will Manny Pacquiao do next?

By Daniel Tagg: After another masterful performance from Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night in his one-sided 12 round unanimous decision win over Antonio Margarito, who will be his next opponent if any? Manny’s congressional duties will probably increase from here on, and he has not really got any worthy opponents left to fight at light welterweight or most likely welterweight. sSo this leaves us with the thought Pacquiao mayl retire.

Manny has got opponents to fight but they wont be great fights and wont be great fighters, with the exception of one Floyd Mayweather but this is not likely to happen. Manny and Roach have rightly said befor that they dont need Floyd and they have nothing left to prove but Floyd does. Pacquiao could fight Marquez and/or Shane Mosley next but Juan Manuel Marquez wont give a good fight at welterweight and Mosley is getting old. A lot of people are saying that all boxing fans want to see Manny fight Floyd but, I see it differently. Floyd wants to keep his clean record and there are question marks over the standard of his opponents. He still has to prove himself worthy of fighting Pacquiao in my book.

If Pacquiao announces his retirement from boxing it will be a great loss. How will people remember him, how will people perceive him as an all time great. There is no doubt that he is a legend and Hall of Fame fighter. His achievements in boxing will remain for quite some time, and 8 world titles at 8 different weights won’t be broken any time soon. People will restrain themselves about calling Pacquiao probably the greatest of all time. Sugar Ray Robinson is the regarded best of all time but comparing the achievements of each fighter Manny is ahead of Robinson and ahead of Henry Armstrong and Archie Moore.
