Image: Pacquiao-Margarito: Look for Antonio to give Manny a brutal beating on Saturday nightBy Dave Lahr: I’ve been looking forward to seeing Manny Pacquiao take his beating from Antonio Margarito for a long time, and finally we’re about to see what I’ve already known for a long time. Pacquiao is going to get torn apart by the Tijuana Tornado on Saturday night at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington, Texas. I don’t see that as a simple beating. This is going to be one of those epic beat downs that you’ll remember years from now.

Pacquiao is going to veto having the fight stopped by trainer Freddie Roach as the fight wears on, and the Filipino’s fighter starts to resemble ground up hamburger more and more. This is going to be like walking up on the scene of a terrible car wreck. Pacquiao’s speed won’t save him in this fight. He’s going to be there for Margarito’s punches from the 2nd round on, which is when I see Pacquiao’s movement stopping. He’ll be stationary for the 1st round and use good head movement, but from the 2nd round on, Pacquiao will go primitive and stand and slug with the proud Mexican warrior. That will be Pacquiao’s downfall, believe me.

It’s going to be like taking a small Toyota and entering into one of those desert road races. Pacquiao is going to be totally unequipped for the brutal onslaught of punches from the bigger, stronger and tougher Margarito. Pacquiao is a good fighter, and I think he’s good enough to be ranked among the best at light welterweight and welterweight, but I don’t see him as the best fighter in either of those divisions. I applaud his handlers for their good match-making in keeping Pacquiao from being put in with fighters that would otherwise beat him and make him look bad. Margarito is one of those fighters where his management has made a huge mistake in putting him in with.

Margarito is going to be unloading on Pacquiao at close range starting in the 2nd round, landing huge chopping axe-like shots to the head and body. The body shots will be key here, because Pacquiao has never been able to handle body shots as well as head shots. He’s even been stopped with a body shot in the past. Margarito is going to work Pacquiao’s body over early in the fight and have him whimpering like a dog in pain with each big shot to the solar plexus.

Next, Margarito will start coming upstairs with uppercuts that will snap Pacquiao’s head back and have his hair flying straight up. The uppercuts will straighten Pacquiao up into a standing position from the force of them. I expect the blood to start soon after with Pacquiao getting ripped up around the eyes. The red, thick blood should do a good job of obscuring Pacquiao’s vision making it almost impossible to see Margarito’s punches through the red haze.

At this point, Margarito will land one of his big right hands that will knock Pacquiao’s nose askew, breaking it and sending a stream of red blood flooding from both nostrils. The blood will be impossible for Roach to stop in between rounds. Roach, seeing a future beyond this fight, will literally be begging Pacquiao to let him stop the fight. Pacquiao will look at Roach with a stare that speaks volumes, and Roach will immediately shut his yap.

Pacquiao will come out for the next round, which should be the 4th, and walk into a storm of sledgehammer shots from Margarito. The punches will be like stinging killer bees and will comes from every angle, chopping the little Pacquiao up like he’s celery. At that point, I see Pacquiao dropping to his knees and hitting the canvas with a hard thud as his face flattens into it with sickening crunch of broken bones. The referee will then stop the fight and motion for the medical team to come in and start giving Pacquiao some assistance. In the meanwhile, Margarito will have his hand raised as the new WBC junior middleweight champion of the world and his life will be totally changed from then on.
