Manny Pacquiao running out of opponents

By Daniel Tagg: With the news of Floyd Mayweather’s trouble with the law he will be busy for a few months at least, this means that he wont be able to fight until maybe the summer of 2011.

As it seems the newly crowned World Boxing Council junior middleweight champion Manny Pacquiao’s career is nearing its end he only has maybe two fights left, these fights will likely be at 147lb as this is the most comfortable weight for Pacquiao to be able to compete competitively. The realization that Mayweather won’t be fighting at least until the summer means Pacquiao won’t be fighting him next. so who will Manny be fighting next, both Sugar Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez have shown their interest in fighting Manny, both are good fighters but neither are at their best now. Shane Mosley is on the down side of his career and showed signs of this in his Mayweather fight. Marquez wont be that competitive either, as the possible fight will take place at 147lb, his weight will be an issue as will his speed and stamina, he again looked slow in the Mayweather fight.

What does this mean for Manny, we would love to see Mayweather fight Manny but so far this hasn’t happened. there is no one at 140lb that is a big enough name to fight Manny and at 147lb other than Floyd and there is know one who can give a competitive fight with Manny for the whole fight. There are a couple of old guy’s and the rest are up and comers who are young. Manny could fight anyone the 147lb division but are they worth it and what would the money be like ?

You know that you have a legendary fighter around when he has run out of world class opponents to face, despite the lack of top quality opponents I think Manny will fight Mosley and Marquez next and probably another failed negotiations with Floyd would cause Manny to fight Kell Brook, Andre Berto, timothy Bradley, Marcos Maidana or maybe Saul Alvarez.

I don’t know what we will see in the next year or two but I can be certain of two things, Manny will beat who ever he faces and Manny will want to make it a good fight for the fans so he may end his career against Juan Manuel Marquez.
