Image: Khan in great shape - Too bad he's going to get knocked out by Maidana on 12/11By Scott Gilfoid: I must say that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) is looking in the best shape ever as he prepares for his bout against Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) on December 11th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas., Nevada. It’s just too bad that Khan is probably going to get knocked cold early in the fight and that will ruin all the hard work he put in training camp in getting his razor think physique ready for the fight.

Unfortunately, being in shape doesn’t have anything do with being able to take a good shot to the chin. If all it meant to be a good fighter was to be in great shape, Khan would probably be the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. You got to have a chin, and frankly, I think Khan comes up short in that department.

Despite looking in good shape, Khan looks a little drained to me, as if he’s trained too hard for this fight. This could be a lot easier knockout win for Maidana than I originally thought. Khan has probably been worried like mad about not getting knocked out again and could have compensated for his worries by training like a dog. However, training more doesn’t translate into a better performance much of the time. There is diminishing returns after awhile and fighter can actually hurt their chances for victory by overdoing it. I think that may be the case with Khan. I think he’s in trouble anyway in this fight, but by training himself into a skeletal-looking fighter, I think he’s really asking for a quick knockout loss from Maidana
