Abraham says nothing Froch can throw will compare to what he went through in Miranda bout

By Sean McDaniel: Former IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25 KO’s) doesn’t have any fear about the kinds of shots that Carl Froch (26-1, 20 KO’s) will be landing in their fight this weekend in Helsinki, Finland. Abraham went through a 12 round war with a harder puncher than Froch in Abraham a decision win against knockout artist Edison Miranda in 2006.

Although Abraham won the fight, he had his jaw broken in the 5th round by one of Miranda’s big right hand shots. Fighting with blood streaming out his mouth and swallowing blood constantly, Abraham was able to hold on and win the decision in a brutal war.

In an article at express.co.uk, Abraham has this to say about fighting Froch, “Nothing Froch can throw at me will come close to what I went through in that bout. I know I did the right thing by fighting on, to keep my title and my pride.”

Indeed, Miranda is clearly a bigger puncher than Froch and Abraham was able to take Miranda’s biggest shots not once but in two of their fights and win both bouts. Froch does hit hard, but he’s not in the class of Miranda. Abraham showed a great chin in that fight by sticking it out and folding once his jaw was broken. After the fight, Abraham had “two titanium metal plates and 22 screws implanted” in his broken jaw to repair it.

Froch is going to have to really land a lot of big shots if he plans on taking Abraham out, because the German based fighter can take incredible punishment without being stopped. And he hits massively hard and that’s going to be a problem for Froch to have to deal with. It won’t be a one-sided fight in terms of power. Abraham hits even harder than Froch, so this is a fight that could be over in an instant if Abraham lands.
