Wladimir begs Haye not to get knocked out by Harrison

Image: Wladimir begs Haye not to get knocked out by HarrisonBy William Mackay: In an amusing segment on Sky Sports Ringside, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) spent a good portion of the hour talking down WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, calling him a “Clown” and saying “Please don’t get killed in your next fight with Audley Harrison.” Wladimir will be facing British heavyweight Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KO’s) on December 11th in Germany. However, Wladimir didn’t appear concerned at all about Chisora and seemed to be supporting the fighter, as if he needed building up to make it a more interesting fight.

But the opponent that Wladimir did seem interested in was Haye, who Wladimir is disgusted with because of Haye’s inability to get in the ring with him or his brother WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko. Wladimir said “The money is fine. It’s just an excuse. He’s [Haye] a coward and he’s a liar. David Haye is just finding another excuse not to fight the Klitschko brothers. He knows he’s going to get killed. Little by little, he’s starting to be a clown. Boxing fans don’t take him serious anymore. I’m really concerned about his next fight.” Wladimir gives Harrison a real chance to win because of his power.

Wladimir doesn’t want to miss out on the big payday he or his brother would get for fighting Haye. However, he also seems to really want to knock Haye out, and that’s certainly a big part of it as well. Wladimir wants to finish Haye off and close his mouth. But Wladimir is open to fight Harrison if he beats Haye, saying “If Audley wins this fight, then of course we’ll follow the goal to get the last title we don’t have.” The Klitschko brothers have three of the four heavyweight titles as of now. They’ve been trying to get the final belt from Haye since last year, but Haye doesn’t seem eager to face either of them.

Wladimir wasn’t impressed with Haye’s win over Nikolay Valuev last year. Wladimir said “He [Haye] was like a chicken, dancing around, and scratching.” Haye didn’t look good in that fight, as he spent most of the fight running around the ring and only throwing 10 punches per round. Haye’s fans point out that he hurt his hand early on, which, they say, is why he only threw a handful of punches in the fight. This is pretty much the exact same excuse Shannon Briggs used in his loss to Vitali Klitschko, yet he’s been slammed big time. Of course, if he had been facing a slow fighter with no power like Valuev, Briggs probably would have won throwing a handful punches like Haye did.
