What is going on in the Manny Pacquiao camp?

By Ben James: For the past few weeks Manny Pacquiao’s training team have been trying to convince us that the Pacman is not packing the same kind of power, speed and dedication that we are used to seeing from him in his training camps.

Trainer Freddie Roach has been criticizing his star fighters performance, while praising the convicted cheater Margarito. We have had to put up with similar outbursts from Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza. With friends like these who needs enemies?

What I am trying to work out is if all these statements are true, or just been said to hype up the fight or lure Margarito into a delusional world where he believes this fight is going to be a walk in the park. After all Pacman is moving up in weight AGAIN to fight for another worthless world title. Manny Pacquiao is the ultimate paper champion, but he is one hell of a fighter.

Has he taken it a step too far in fighting for a light middleweight world title? Does he even deserve this title shot? Fighters like Ryan Rhodes have been working hard for years in the lower ranks aiming to get a world title, and this guys promoter just decides that he is going to step up in weight and fight for a world title just because he will make the sanctioning bodies a pile of cash! What the hell is next? Manny Pacquiao vs David Haye, promoters like Bob Arum are turning this sport into a joke.

So what is my prediction… I am not really sure to be honest. Pacman is a great fighter, but he is only human, his opponent is tough and can really punch. Remember it can only take one lucky punch to change the outcome of a fight. If I remember correctly, Joshua Clottey was hitting Pacquiao with some good shots in their fight, and if he can do it why cant Margarito?

At the end of the day this fight is all about money. Bob Arum will have Manny fight every single fighter on his roster before he lets him fight Floyd Mayweather, and lets face it that is the only fight we really want to see.
