Pacquiao might try and stop Margarito in first two rounds

By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao may try and bum rush Antonio Margarito early in their fight next month and produce another Ricky Hatton-esque type knockout win. Pacquiao told the Philstar.com “(We might move in) first and second (round), but it depends.” Pacquiao isn’t saying anything earth shattering. Of course, he’s going to try and knock Margarito out early.

Pacquiao is always trying to get an early knockout, but I don’t think Margarito is going to give in so easily. He’s not Hatton and he won’t be run over so easily. Margarito is going to stick around for awhile and beat up on Pacquiao before he does end up getting taken out. I see Pacquiao getting battered as much as he did in the Joshua Clottey fight, and maybe even worse than that.

If he can’t put Margarito down, then Pacquiao is going to be in for a world of hurt. He better knock him out for his sake, because if Margarito gets his offense ramped up to where he’s throwing 100+ punches per round, Pacquiao will end up suffering the beating of his life.

He won’t be able to take that kind of punishment without his face getting torn up and I can see him getting stopped unless he runs. This is why Pacquiao absolutely has to knock Margarito out. He can’t leave the guy in the fight because Margarito is too big, his stamina is too good and he throws way too many punches.

This isn’t Clottey who just stood there all night long and let Pacquiao beat on him. And its not Miguel Cotto, who ran from the 2nd round until getting stopped in the 12th. Margarito is going to fight Pacquiao and try to overwhelm him with punches. The gravy train could end next month, and I could see Freddie Roach looking sad if that happens.
