By Scott Gilfoid: At the LA press conference to promote their December 11th fight at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (29-1, 27 KO’s) looks powerful, like a little bull. He looks like he’s ready to tear WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan’s head off right now two months before the fight. Maidana had his game face on for the press conference and seemed like he wanted to tear into Khan right then and there. For his part, Khan looks like he’s starting to put on a little weight around his face and upper body.

I couldn’t help noticing that Khan is starting to look a little thick around the jowls from maybe one too many meals. He really needs to start training more and cut down on the amount of meals. If I was Khan’s trainer, I’d monitor his food intact big time and put him on a lean diet. Object here is to make Khan hate food by giving him the kinds of foods that would make a Billy goat puke. Khan talks about food all the time in his twitter page, and I can see that he’s starting show some early signs of flab accumulating around his jowls. That’s where it starts. .

Khan needs to train like dog and stop eating if he wants to stay upright and not knocked into the next world by Maidana. There isn’t much of a height advantage for Khan in this and that’s going to be a problem for Khan. He usually dwarfs his opponents, but that’s not going to be the case with Maidana. Without a height advantage, Khan is going to be getting royally tagged by Maidana in this fight. With a chin as delicate as Khan’s, I don’t see him being able to take more two or three rounds of hard shots from Maidana without crumbling and getting knocked out.

But first things first, Khan needs to strip off the flab and get in shape, stop eating and get ready for this fight. I hope it is a fight, but I think it’s going to be blowout with Khan knocked out early. Maidana is positively the worst opponent you could put in with a guy like Khan. That’s like matching a young George Foreman against David Haye. Khan needs to be in tip top shape so he can try and run for 12 rounds to survive.
