By Jason Kim: According to Michael Marley from Examiner.com, two-time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito has already agreed to the 150 pound catch weight limit that Manny Pacquiao wants for their November 13th bout. Both fighters are from Top Rank, so ironing out this problem was a piece of cake for Bob Arum, who said “The catch is not an issue just as it wasn’t for [Miguel] Cotto, coming in at 145 to fight Manny. Margarito faces difficulty making 147, but there is an understanding about the three extra pounds between the parties.”

Oh man, Margarito is going to agree to the 150 pound catch weight, as if he really had any choice in the matter. The negotiations are heavily titled in Pacquiao’s favor. He’s the huge star in this fight, and whatever he says pretty much goes. If Margarito wants the fight and the nice payday that does along with it, he better be ready to agree to whatever that Pacquiao asks of him. Margarito should consider himself lucky that the catch weight is 150 rather than say, 148. Margarito would obviously agree to that too, but it would make it harder for him to drain down to that weight.

There’s still no venue for the fight. Arum is hoping to put the fight in Las Vegas, but he needs the Nevada Athletic Commission to meet with Margarito and give him his boxing license back really soon so that Arum can start marketing the fight. The Nevada Commission would be crazy to turn Margarito away, because it will mean losing a lot of money that the state of Nevada badly needs right now.

If they don’t give Margarito back his license, Arum is ready to take Margarito to another state to get a hearing, saying “We will let everything play out. I do know other states are very, very angry that California predicates a Margarito license on Antonio dropping his court appeal of their original decision. I’m going to move on the situation shortly and I’ll not limit myself to Las Vegas or Monterrey [Mexico]. I am not threatening anyone; I’m just saying we’re exploring everything.”

Arum is also considering putting the Pacquiao vs. Margarito fight in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi, where Pacquiao won’t have to worry about losing money to taxes like he would if the fight takes place in the United States.
