Is Arum the only one that wants to see Pacquiao fight Cotto or Margarito?

By Jason Kim: While I can understand the reasoning why Bob Arum would want Manny Pacquiao to fight either Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito next, since Arum would make more money because he wouldn’t have to deal with an outside promoter when splitting the money for the fights.

However, I know of few people that are interested in seeing Pacquiao fight Cotto and Margarito. I don’t know why Pacquiao doesn’t speak up and give his own ideas to Arum about who he would prefer to fight. Is Pacquiao okay with letting Arum make all the choices for him in terms of opponents?

Other fighters typically chime in with their own views about who they are interested in fighting and when. Is Pacquiao on board with fighting Margarito and Cotto or is he just playing passive with Arum and letting him make all the decisions.

Arum should take a look at the negative responses towards Pacquiao fighting Cotto and Margarito and look at another option for Pacquiao to fight rather than going over old ground with Cotto and taking on a fighter that few people want to see Pacquiao fight with Margarito.

I know Arum has an obligation as a promoter to get the best fights possible for Margarito and Cotto, but shouldn’t that mean that he look outside of his own fighters when setting them up. It just seems kind of off putting to see Pacquiao matched up against fighters that few fans want to see him fight.

Arum is a good promoter, and he should be able to find fights for guys like Cotto and Margarito, without using them against his best fighter. Right now, I think Cotto and Margarito aren’t who boxing fans want to see fight Pacquiao. They obviously want Floyd Mayweather Jr. to fight him, but minus that, I’m willing to bet that they would much prefer to see Pacquiao fight someone besides Cotto and Margarito.
