By Sam Gregory: In the main event of the May 28th edition of ESPN2 Friday Night Fight’s from the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada 38 year old Eric Lucas 39-7-3 with 15 KO’s of Magog, Quebec takes on 31 year old Mexican Librado Andrade 28-3 with 21 KO’s in a scheduled 10 round bout in the super middleweight division.

In round one both men came out testing their opponent with the jab; Andrade was the aggressor being the first one to throw and land his uppercut. Lucas threw a couple hard shots upstairs, Andrade countered by pressing forward throwing his uppercut.

Round 2 Andrade started throwing combinations that were blocked; Lucas countered and landed a solid uppercut to the approval of the crowd. Andrade tied up; Lucas punched out and turned the table landing a solid uppercut; Lucas landed a right hook at the end of the round.

Round 3 Andrade came out throwing his jab; Lucas countered with a left hook. When Andrade threw his jab Lucas countered with a solid combination that he scored with. Lucas threw head shots put most were blocked by Andrade.

Round 4 both men fought in the center of the ring using their jab; Andrade tied up, Lucas punched out; Andrade went to work doubling up with his combination. A cut opened above the right eye of Lucas. Lucas countered landing his uppercut to the body. Lucas closed out the round by landing a solid right to the head.

Round 5 Andrade came out throwing his left hook; Lucas tied up, the ref separated the two. Lucas landed his left jab to the face; Lucas landed a left hand, Andrade tied up. A cut opened over the left eye of Lucas. Andrade had Lucas on the ropes and finished out the round with combinations to the body.

In round 6 Andrade went after Lucas landing his jab; Andrade countered off the jab landing a solid uppercut. Lucas landed a solid combination to the body and Andrade countered with solid shots of his own.

Round 7 Andrade was the aggressor throwing his jab backing Lucas up; Andrade threw a jab followed with a right uppercut that missed. Lucas kept moving side to side, Lucas caught him on the ropes and landed his left hook. Andrade landed several more punches and had the better round.

Andrade was ahead 67 to 66

Round 8 Lucas throws his jab, Andrade counters with a solid combination; both men tied up; Andrade caught Lucas with a solid right to the face of Lucas the ref called time to check the cuts on Lucas face. When the round resumed Andrade went to work landing punches to the face of Lucas.

After round eight the fight was stopped. The ringside doctor said the cuts to the face of Lucas made it impossible for him to continue.

Librado Andrade improves his record to 29-3 with 22 KO’s. Eric Lucas falls to 39-8-3 with 15 KO’s. Lucas says this will be his last fight.
