Lara defeats Perez, Velasquez and Wilder all victorious

By Sam Gregory: In the main event on ShoBox The New Generation from the Hard Rock Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada undefeated Cuban sensation southpaw Erislandy Lara 10-0 with 6 KO’s takes on 33 year old Danny Perez 34-6 with 17 KO’s in a scheduled 10 round bout in the junior middleweight division.

In the first round Perez came out with conviction throwing his jab and backing Lara up; the fight went to the center of the ring where both men traded body shots with Lara getting the better of the exchange. Lara landed a few low shots and was warned by the referee.

Round 2 Perez got off first landing his jab; Lara countered and landed a solid body shot. Perez landed a solid hook to the body; Lara countered and had another good round.

Round 3 Perez walked into a solid shot by Lara; both men were fighting in the center of the ring; Lara slowed his punch output in this round; Perez landed solid uppercut to the body and finished the round strong.

Round 4 Perez landed his jab; Lara worked the body. Both men fought in the center of the ring landing solid uppercuts. Lara let his hands go and landed solid combinations to the body; Lara landed solid combinations and finished strong.

Round 5 Perez came out throwing his jab; Lara muscled Perez back and landed solid uppercut; both men were infighting with Lara landing strong shots to the body. Lara had a better round.

Between rounds Lara was warned by his corner not to fight on the inside

Round 6 Perez got off with a solid jab; both men exchanged hooks but Lara was on the inside and got the worst of the exchange; Lara fought with his hands low but landed the better stronger punches.

Lara was winning every round on the unofficial scorecards

Round 7 Lara look comfortable landed shots at will; Perez tried to counter but wasn’t fast enough; Lara had his back to the ropes and landed solid combinations finishing the round strong.

Round 8 both men fought in the center of the ring; Lara got off with the better punches; Lara landed a beautiful combination and backed Perez up. Lara stepped up his punch output and looked much busier. Perez threw punches with nothing on them; Lara again had the better round.

Round 9 Perez threw his jab and tied up; Lara landed a solid combination. Lara was much quicker landing solid combinations and spinning off and landed his jab. Perez threw a weak combination that had little effect on Lara who had another good round.

Round 10 Lara circled round Perez landing his jab; Perez landed a body shot but Lara countered with a quick combination and spun out. Both men fought in the center of the ring; Lara landed a solid combination and spun out avoiding Perez’ punches. Lara appeared to have won almost every round in the fight.

After the 10th and final round the fight went to the judge’s scorecards: 99-91 on all three cards for the winner by unanimous decision Erislandy Lara. Lara improved his unbeaten record to 11-0 with 6 KO’s while Danny Perez fell to 34-7 with 17 KO’s.
