By Sam Gregory: In the main event of the April 24th edition of HBO’s Boxing After Dark from Citizens Business Bank Arena, Ontario, California, 29 year old Chris Arreola 28-1 with 25 KO’s takes on the former IBF cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek 40-1 with 27 KO’s who is fighting his third fight in the heavyweight division. This is a scheduled 12 round bout in the heavyweight division for the IBF international heavyweight title.
In the early rounds of this fight both men came out throwing and landing solid hard punches. After Arreola got off with a couple jabs he went into defense mode and Adamek took control of the fight early on.
By the second round Adamek doubled up on his jab landing the crisper more solid punches. For the first three rounds Adamek was fighting a very disciplined fight and clearly looked in control easily winning the first three rounds.
Going into the fourth round Arreola threw and landed some big shots and had Adamek on the ropes. Adamek took some big shots but countered with solid combinations to the head and body. In the fourth round Arreola caught Adamek on the top of his head with a punch that threw him off balance.
At the start of the fifth round Arreola had some visible swelling around his eyes. In the fifth round Arreola caught Adamek with a solid left jab to the face that threw him off balance. Adamek landed some good combinations but Arreola carried both the fourth and fifth rounds.
Going into the fifth and sixth rounds Arreola was starting to impose himself physically muscling Adamek into the ropes. In the sixth round Adamek received his second warning for throwing a low blow.

By the seventh round Arreola was outmuscling Adamek and pushing him into the ropes; Adamek was able to spin out and counter with a combination that didn’t appear to affect Arreola. Going into the eighth round Adamek was getting off the cleaner punches but Arreola was still outmuscling his opponent.
At the start of the ninth round Arreola came out throwing a big overhand right that was countered with a combination to the body. It was at this point in the fight that Adamek turned the fight back in his favor outpunching and landing combinations to the body of Arreola. Again Adamek was warned for throwing a low blow.

In the tenth round Arreola landed a big combination to the body pushing Adamek into the ropes. Midway through the round Arreola looked in control of the round but Adamek was able to spin his way off the ropes and take the fight to the center of the ring. By the end of the tenth and going into the eleventh rounds of the fight Adamek had taken back control of the fight. Before the end of the eleventh round Adamek landed a big three punch combination.
In the twelfth round Adamek circled Arreola and threw single jabs; both men fought cautiously circling and throwing single jabs. The final round was uneventful and when it was over the fight went to the judge’s scorecards.
Michael Buffer announced the scores as: 114-114, 115-113, and 117-111 all for the winner by unanimous decision Tomasz Adamek.
Adamek improved his unbeaten record to 41-1 with 27 KO’s while Chris Arreola fell to 28-2 with 25 KO’s
