Image: Prediction: Clottey is going to tear Pacquiao apartBy Dave Lahr: Okay, so first of all Manny Pacquiao is in deep trouble this Saturday night. Joshua Clottey is going to be bringing size and power that Pacquiao has never seen before in his career. This time Pacquiao will actually be facing someone that is still able to take shots without flopping around on the canvas like a fish out of water. I know I’ve wrong in the past about some of my predictions, but believe me, I’m going to be right this time. Pacquiao is going to look like a war survivor by the end of this fight.

The way I see things going is Pacquiao trying the grand strategy that his trainer Freddie Roach laid out for him where he’s going to be looking to overwhelm Clottey with a massive amount of punches. Let’s be clear on this: that isn’t going to work. Clottey is going to be shutting Pacquiao down with his steel trap defense and blocking everything thrown his way like a fly catcher.

Pacquiao is going to be jumping around like he always does, but in this case he’s going to try and throw a boat load full of punches each time he gets in close. Okay, so this is where Clottey is going to nab him by literally pouring left hooks down Pacquiao’s throat and making him drunk with them. Pacquiao is going to get hurt early in this fight, and immediately go into his shell to try and survive.

Clottey will go after Pacquiao raining punches on him from all sides as Pacquiao covers up in a fetal ball to try and keep from getting hit so much. Alright, things are going to be going down will quick for the Filipino fighter, and his famous trainer, Roach, won’t have clue one what to do to stop the heavy onslaught from the powerful Clottey. Roach will start jabbing this and that, trying his best to reach back for a few pearls of wisdom to give to Pacquiao in between rounds. But it will be no use.

Pacquiao’s will be spinning around still from the punches that he took in the previous round, and all he’ll be hearing is a bunch of babbling from Roach. Once Pacquiao goes out to center ring, the beating will continue as Clottey tags Pacquiao in the head and midsection, and raining a heavy shower of punches on Pacquiao, causing him to squeal in pain and look around for help from Roach. Instead of helping, Roach will shrug his shoulders and yell some unintelligible piece of advice that Pacquiao would have no way of understanding.

Left to his own device, Pacquiao will be like a ship lost on ocean in a huge storm, being battered over and over again by huge waves of punches by the bigger, more powerful Clottey and totally helpless to turn back the tide. Not being used to getting battered like this, Pacquiao will be totally lost with what to do to get Clottey off of him.

Finally, Clottey will put Pacquiao mercifully out of his misery with a devastating left uppercut that will lift Pacquiao’s small body in the air and send him pitching face first down on the canvas where he will land with a heavy thud. Roach, forgetting himself, will jump through the ropes and go to the assistance of his beaten fighter. The referee won’t even bother counting, because Pacquiao will be far too out of it to make it to his feet. A sobbing Roach will half drag, half carry Pacquiao’s limp, beaten body back to the corner.
