Will Haye have to kiss Wladimir Klitschko’s backside to get a fight?

haye45239By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like David Haye’s backing out of fights against Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko has upset Wladimir Klitschko enough where he didn’t even want to mention Haye’s name in an interview today with Sky Sports News. Gosh, I never thought it would get to the point where Wladimir wouldn’t want to take what appears to be an easy fight for big money against the much hyped fighter from Britain. But I guess Haye backing out of fights with him and his brother Vitali has pissed Wladimir off to no end.

Too bad, because boxing fans would probably be interested in seeing the fight. I know I would. I wouldn’t want to see Haye fight Vitali Klitschko, though, because I think that would very likely end up as a big slaughter with Vitali beating the paints of Haye. But I’m now wondering whether Haye will have to talk nice to Vladimir – and Vitali – if he wants to fight them.

It sounds like Haye might need to play nice with them, maybe do some groveling if he wants to get a fight with either of them. If Haye doesn’t care about getting a huge payday against one of them and is cool with fighting the likes of John Ruiz, Ruslan Chagaev, Kali Meehan and Dennis Boytsov, then more power to him. It might take some 10 or more fights to equal what Haye would make in one single fight with the Klitschko brothers, but if Haye doesn’t mind then that’s cool. I don’t know that Haye could beat any of those fighters, to be honest.

The fighter that beat Nikolay Valuev by a narrow 12 round majority decision earlier this month would have major problems against Boytsov, Ruiz, Chagaev and Meehan. I think Haye could probably handle Meehan if Haye can land something big before Meehan gets warmed up, but that’s no guarantee. Meehan would be bringing it and if he can connect to Haye’s sometimes fragile chin, it will be all over.

I don’t know but maybe Haye should drop for the 10 count and start kissing some Klitschko backside. Who cares if it seems a little embarrassing, just as long as Haye gets the fight with one of them. Sometimes one must humble themselves if they want to get what they want. So I’d recommend that Haye do some major backside kissing so he can get the fight he wants with one of them.

After the contract is signed, Haye can turn back on his teasing and mocking persona for the pre-fight hype, but first Haye should do a little groveling to get one of them in the ring. Like I said, I wouldn’t go after Vitali if I was Haye. If the Klitschko brothers and their management try to push Haye into fighting Vitali, I wouldn’t do it. I don’t see that as a fair fight because Vitali is just too damn good.

It would be over in a matter of rounds with Haye flat on his back looking up at the lights. Haye needs to be adamant that he wants nothing less than a fight with Wladimir. At least if he fights him, there would be a little bit of drama while the fight lasts. It would be like Wladimir fighting Lamon Brewster again, except a weak chinned version of Brewster.

It would be great if Haye could knock Wladimir out, because like many people have pointed out, it would set up a revenge of the brother situation where Vitali could swoop in and fight Haye for the honor of Wladimir. In the end, the fight would make tons of money and Haye would be much better off financially then if he were to go after Vitali. But first things first, Haye should make nice with the Klitschko brothers as best as he can to get the fight.
