David Haye – Needs to improve to mix with the Klitschkos!

haye43423By Stuart Cross: Ok so there has been a lot of rubbish written since David Haye dispatched Nikolay Valuev, a lot of people in the forums writing all sorts. So here is how I see it.

I think Haye deserved to win the fight. I mean what did Valuev do, pumped out his jab and missed all night, same as he always does, is that really a heavyweight champion? No, it’s not, and for me he’s a spoiler and just whats bad about the heavy weights right now.

So was it that good a performance from Haye. Well, yes and no. He beat a man only beaten once in his career, 100lbs heavier and nearly a foot taller. However to me he still shows signs of needing to sharpen up to beat the top boys. His defense is one, no way can he drop his hands with the Klitschko’s, they can bang and haye is yet to be hit clean by a heavy, and he really should try to minimize the damage when he does,

Secondly He needs to control his wild “Hayemakers”. Haye clearly has a lot of power, I mean no one has rocked Valuev before. However the result could have been better had Haye finished him off with some clean punches. If you watched the fight, when Haye followed up on Valuev after he wobbled him in the 12th, his wild overhand rights were blocked by Valuev. Had haye gone in for the kill with a snappy straight left right combo, I feel he could have achieved the impossible and put Valuev on the deck. If Haye can improve both these, he could be a formidable fighter.

So now we hope to get some real excitement in the Heavy weight division. Haye V the Klitschko’s! Can he beat them. Well, Vitali, im not so sure, he can box well, punch well and take a hit, so maybe he will best be avoided for now, but we know Haye wants drama so we could see this fight first. From a boxing fan point of view I feel the best bet for Haye, if he does decide to fight one fo them immediately after Ruiz, is Wladimir. Wlad is by far the weaker I feel of the two brothers. He’s been KO’d 3 times already in his career and so has in my eyes a suspect chin, he hates to stand and fight. What happens next, im sure we’ll all find out in the next 6 months.

Lets just be happy that we finally have someone that will come out and make the Ukrainians fight for there title, not an overweight poor excuse of a heavyweight, Someone who is in tip top physical shape, and can throw that knockout punch. We may finally be in for some decent heavyweight battles!
