Should Calzaghe comeback and smash Froch?

cal7287By Jamie Hooper: Since Carl Froch appeared on the scene I have never been sure what to make of him. He got a lot of boxing fans back up when he was calling out Calzaghe. I don’t think that chasing a calzaghe bout was a smart move for Froch. 1. Because Calgazhe would win hands down and 2. Calzaghe was in the home straight of his career and was looking for big money fights not domestic.

He must have known that a Calzaghe fight wouldn’t happen and should have been smart enough to realize that bad mouthing Calzaghe would only adversely affect his popularity among the British fans.

So the super six comes along and gives Froch probably the best opportunity he could possibly have to establish himself as a super star or at least set him self in the best possible position to become one. There is only one problem though. He isn’t good enough.

I don’t really believe that froch won the fight against Andre Dirrell. More that Dirrell didn’t do enough to take the title. He looked very exposed against Taylor too.

Before the super six draws to a close he has the likes of Kessler to get past. Normally I would say that Froch wouldn’t stand a chance but Kessler hasn’t looked the same since Calzaghe. I’m left wondering if Froch is one of those lucky fighters that just gets the right fights at the right time.

What if he wins the super six. Do we say well done Froch you are a super star. The P4P title is within your grasp. When we talk of the best British fighters of all time your name is right up there.

Personally if he wins I say its time for Calzaghe to make a comeback. A lot of boxing fans and experts will say a comeback for Calzaghe would be a bad thing. Why risk a defeat and spoil your unbeaten record. The answer to that is, he wont get beat. Calzaghe hasn’t been in retirement long enough to atrophy. Besides all that dancing keeps you in shape.

I truly believe if Froch wins the super six , Calzaghe will take the froch fight. And I have no doubt Froch will come unstuck.

Calzaghe should hang up the dancing shoes and dust the gloves off. As there could be an opportunity for a domestic barnstormer.
