I would hate to see Hatton retire, knowing he still has something left to offer the sport. What sort of champion walks away because he lost?

This is the very reason that I, and so many others are a fan of Ricky Hatton. He never backs down. Why, nowadays, does a defeat mean a fighter must retire? Did Muhammed Ali never lose in his peak? Or Roberto Duran? The best boxers lose. That is a fact. I am a huge fan of Joe Calzaghe and his ability’s, but can he really say he tested himself against the best opposition that was available for him? Hatton is not shot. He recently schooled Paul Maliganggi and stopped him, which welterweight, Miguel Cotto could not do.

Hatton said, ”Everybody becomes an expert all of a sudden. I know my body better than anyone. Many great fighters such as Duran and Gatti have had crushing defeats and come back to win world titles. I’ll probably give it another go.”

Hatton is still rated as the 3rd best light welterweight in the world and the best in Britain. The list of opponents for him to fight is endless, however, Juan Diaz must be over joyed at this news. Diaz would be a great warm up fight for Hatton who might go on to face Bradley or Khan as a tune up fight and then challenge for the pound for pound title again.

I am sure Khan would be way out of depth against Hatton. Hatton would pile so much pressure on the Bolton man that hr wouldn’t know what day of the week it was. Hatton is sharp on his feet and has tremendous power. Also, Khan’s pitter patter shots, as described by Enzo Calzaghe, would just bounce of Hatton. I would predict he would stop Khan in three rounds. This would be a great tune up fight for Hatton.
