Pacquiao Not Likely to Face Mayweather in 2009
By Manuel Perez: Well, according to the latest boxing news, it appears doubtful that Manny Pacquiao will be fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2009, says Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum. Instead, it looks as if Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, or Edwin Valero will be next up for the Filipino star. Since Pacquiao wants to get the huge payday that a bout with Mayweather will give to him, it’s doubtful that Cotto or Mosley are in the picture for 2009 either.
Cintron Defeats Angulo In Questionable Decision
By Manuel Perez: Kermit Cintron (31-2-1, 27 KO’s) pulled off a tremendous upset against previously unbeaten number #1 ranked light middleweight Alfredo Angulo in a 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Hollywood, Florida. Despite winning the fight and landing the weaker punches for 12 rounds, Cintron only landed fifty more punches than Angulo.
Berto Defeats Urango in Painfully Boring Fight
By Manuel Perez: World Boxing Council welterweight champion Andre Berto (25-0, 19 KO’s) won an incredibly boring 12-round unanimous decision against his Colombian challenger Juan Urango (21-2-1, 16 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Hollywood, Florida. The final judges’ scores were 118-110, 118-110 and 117-111.

Previously, Khan had said that he would never fight Hatton, 30, because of their close friendship.
Boxing Results – Helenius Destroys Gammer; Braekhus Decisions Yuratovac
By Erik Schmidt: Undefeated heavyweight prospect Robert Helenius (8-0, 4 KO’s) took apart journeyman Scott Gammer (18-4-1, 9 KO’s) in a 6th round stoppage on Saturday night at the Hartwall Arena, in Helsinki, Finland. The 6’6 ½” Helenius, 25, knocked Gammer down four times in the fight, the final time coming in the 6th round from a right hand to the head. Referee Erkki Meronen then counted Gammer out at 1:52 of the round.
Lauri Defeats Tolppola on 10th round Disqualification; Shafikov Crushes Cotterill – Boxing Results
By Erik Schmidt: EBU-EU light welterweight champion Giuseppe Lauri (48-6, 28 KO’s) defeated Finland’s Juho Tolppola (22-6, 9 KO’s) by a 10th round disqualification on Saturday night at the Hartwall Arena, in Helsinki, Finland. The fight was hilarious to watch due the constant fouling by Tolppola, who was penalized on two separate occasions for head butts and then landing a rabbit punch on the break.
