By Chris Williams: The five-part series titled Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Robert Guerrero will be televised on Wednesday night on Showtime at 10 p.m ET/PT. This series is Showtime’s equivalent of HBO’s 24/7 episodes they like to out together for mega pay per view fights to draw interest from boxing fans.

The main difference I see between the two of them is that Showtime’s version is a little rawer, more real and less sentimental and corny. HBO seems to overdo the family aspect and they seem to get away from why boxing fans are really tuning in to see the episodes.

It just seems way, way overdone to the point where it reminds one of a corny soap opera. Mayweather will make it interesting as long as the cameras are on him most of the time. I’m really hoping that Showtime All Access doesn’t focus too much on Guerrero because he puts me to sleep each time I see him talking about the same things.

I wouldn’t mind hearing Guerrero talk if he stuck to boxing but he veers off too much into other things that I have absolutely zero interest in, and I imagine Showtime’s All Access won’t cut all this stuff out and focus on what’s really important coming from him.

If I was the one in control of the editing and filming of Guerrero, I’d limit the video of him and let the All Access focus on just watching him train and put more emphasis on Mayeather so that boxing fans can stay awake during the episodes.

What’s going to be interesting about the series is to watch how Mayweather interacts with his father Floyd Sr., who will be training him for this fight due to Mayweather Jr’s other trainer uncle Roger Mayweather having to sit out this fight due to health related problems.

Floyd Sr. initially trained Mayweather Jr. when he was really young, but then Roger took over and was his trainer from that point on. Mayweather Jr. seems to have mellowed a lot since his problems with his father Floyd Sr. several years ago that was filmed by HBO’s 24/7 series.
