thurman444444By Danny Esch: If you are a real boxing fan that cares about the longevity of the sport and you understand and respect the history of the sport of boxing than you should be concerned about the recent statements made by Angel Garcia.

For those of you out there that don’t know who Angel Garcia is he is the father and trainer of undefeated former light weight champion Danny Garcia. Garcia has just stepped foot into the welterweight division with just two fights under his belt at the welterweight division but surprisingly he is already ranked at #2 WBC, #3 WBA, #8 Ring.

Danny Garcia became a rising star after he knocked out Amir Khan in a fight that he was suppose to lose but instead he came out of the fight victorious and has sailed into the sunset ever since.

Danny Garcia is a good fighter with obvious punching power straight out of Philadelphia but a lot of boxing fans agree that Danny Garcia has received at least two gift decision wins in his favor as of late.

The first controversial fight was against an unknown fighter who was ranked #77 at lightweight at the time of the fight and who had absolutely no experience fighting at an elite level Mr. Rod Salka of Pennsylvania. This particular fight was a nonsense fight in my opinion as soon as the ink on the contract dried because Garcia was Champion and far too skillful for Salka and obviously light years away in his boxing IQ compared to the #77 lightweight rank of Rod Salka. Danny Garcia at the time of the Salka fight was already advanced in his career and should not have been fighting the Rod Salka’s of the world anymore at that point and in turn that fight did absolutely nothing for his career. This fight was over in the second round after 3 knockdowns and the third knockdown was the K.O. punch that ultimately ended the fight.

The second and third controversial fight on Danny Garcia’s resume that most fans believe he actually lost was to Mauricio Herrera and Lamont Peterson. In my opinion those two fight were definitely controversial and I also believe Danny lost and what was also interesting was supposedly a microphone caught Garcia speaking to Peterson after the fight saying “I lost that fight” in which team Garcia of course said that it wasn’t true. Whether or not that statement was true it was clear to see who won that fight against Peterson and the looks on both camps faces after the bell rang in round 12 spoke of who won the fight.

Since these three fights have come and gone Danny Garcia and all of his social media outlets are covered in cherry after cherries after cherries from fans who clearly understand what it really going on with team Garcia and the strategic direction and decision making of Danny Garcia. In a recent interview posted by FIGHTHYPE.COM Angel Garcia father and trainer of Danny Garcia was asked about his thoughts on the potential fight between Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter and that the winner would potentially fight his son in the future.

Fight Hype: “Thurman vs. Porter what are your thoughts on that fight and that Danny may be a potential opponent in the future.

Garcia: “ Well I think that’s a good fight but I don’t know why they are calling each other out because they are both elite fighters and that don’t make since because they are still young. Listen I don’t want people to misunderstand what I’m saying, I want to sound right I don’t want to sound like it’s not a great fight because It is a great fight BUT at the end of the day somebody is going home with an “ O “. So I mean if they want to do that it’s up to them but I mean they are both making good money to be calling each other out and at the end of the day this (Boxing) is about retiring WEALTHY. So somebody is going home with an “O “that night so that’s up to them”.

Garcia: “It don’t make sense calling each other out when they are both elite fighters and great fighters making money”

Garcia: “What I am trying to say is this; they are both elite fighters (Thurman vs. Porter) why would you fight each other when you can fight a fighter like Rod Salka”? Listen to what I am saying this (Boxing) is about the BANK being LOADED it’s not about the glory and that is why Oscar Dela Hoya is at where he is at right now”.
