Thus far, the answer has been in the affirmative by most of the fans that have responded to Golovkin’s question.

Golovkin said on his Twitter: “Do fans want Wembly fight?”

Froch-Golovkin might be worthy of staging at Wembley, but Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn has already said that he doesn’t see it being a big enough fight to stage there. That’s end of story for the fight to be staged at Wembley. Hearn is talking about wanting to stage the fight at the 40,000 seat Forest City Ground in Nottingham. That would bring in a lot less money than the 80,000 seat Wembley Stadium.

Interestingly enough, many of Froch’s fans don’t want to see him take the fight with Golovkin. Quite a lot of them feel that the 37-year-old Froch has nothing to gain in facing a monster puncher like Golovkin. These fans prefer to have Froch either taking an easy farewell fight or simply retiring off his two wins over George Groves. Some fans feel that Froch is really proud from his wins over Groves, which is something that Froch talks about quite a bit despite Groves never having proven himself in the super middleweight division before the two of them fought. If Froch retires right now, he’ll be seen as a celebrity star for the remainder of his days. He can talk about his wins over Groves, Jermain Taylor, Jean Pascal, Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler. But if Froch takes on Golovkin, he may finish his career on the canvas after getting his lights punched out by the powerful Kazakhstan star.

Froch recently said to Skysports.com that whether he fights Golovkin or retires is down to a “flip of a coin.”

That shows you how conflicted Froch is. He’s really not sure if he wants to retire or continue fighting. Froch obviously knows that he would gain a lot from fighting Golovkin. It would give him a huge payday of $10 million to $15 million, and it would give his legacy the proper win that he needs for him to get into the Boxing Hall of Fame.

Right now, you can’t really say that Froch deserves to get into the Hall of Fame because his wins over Groves wasn’t a significant achievement because Groves had never fought guys like Andre Ward during his career. Groves was just a fighter who beat James DeGale four years ago, and had beaten mostly fringe contenders ever since until his losses to Froch. Froch beat Kessler and Bute when the two of them were old and no longer the same fighters they once were. Froch’s win over Jermain Taylor came after he’d twice been beaten by middleweight Kelly Pavlik. Beating Pascal was a good win, but Pascal is a flawed fighter and not seen as a championship level fighter. Pascal doesn’t hold a belt at light heavyweight any longer, and he was beaten by Bernard Hopkins and Sergey Kovalev.
