Deontay plans on putting Stiverne out of his misery in January

deontay72By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated #1 WBC Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) plans on making quick work of WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) in their fight next month on January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 6’7” Deontay doesn’t plan on letting Stiverne hang around for long in this fight before he puts him away. Deontay wants to get Stiverne out of there as quick as possible, and he’s got a good opportunity to make that happen.

“Stiverne look kind a cute as a pug. Too bad he about to get euthanized in January!! Lmao,” Deontay said on his twitter.

Stiverne, 6’2”, has major power too, but the problem is he’ll be giving up five inches in height and three inches in reach against the towering Deontay. I mean, you can make an argument that Deontay will have more of a height and reach advantage than just five inches, because Stiverne looks shorter than 6’2”. But even if he is that height, Stiverne will be a lot slower than Deontay, and he’ll have a hard time taking his big power shots, especially if Stiverne elects to back up against the ropes and fight from that vantage point like he did against Chris Arreola.

Deontay loves to fight guys that back up against the ropes, because it allows him to use his height and reach to tee off on his opponents. I’m sure that Stiverne will have been told repeatedly by his trainer to stay off the ropes, so if he makes the mistake of backing up against the ropes in this fight then it’s really on him. It won’t be as if he wasn’t warned not to do this.

Deontay is a much different fighter than Stiverne’s last opponent Arreola. Stiverne is going to have to try and adapt to Deontay’s size, power and hand speed early in this fight, because if he fails to make the needed adjustments then this fight will be over very quickly.
