By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten #1 WBO, Vanes “Nightmare” Martirosyan (33-0-1, 21 KO’s) will be fighting unbeaten #2 WBO, Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (19-0, 13 KO’s) on September 7th on the undercard of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Brian Vera bout at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.

Martirosyan-Andrade will be fighting for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title that was recently stripped from Zaurbek Baysangurov.

Martirosyan was supposed to be fighting on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios undercard on November 23rd, but HBO chose to say yes to putting the fight on the Chavez Jr-Vera undercard.
Martirosyan, 27, has mostly fought weak opposition during his 8 year pro career. Recently he stepped up and fought Erislandy Lara last year in November 2011.

Martirosyan appeared to be on his way to losing the fight when he caught a lucky break when he had a clash of heads with Lara in the 9th, causing a bad cut over Martirosyan’s left eye.

The fight then went to the cards and was ruled a 9th round technical draw. Martirosyan would have likely lost that fight had it gone the distance because Lara was dominating at the time of the stoppage.

Andrade, a 2008 Olympian for the U.S, has been moved along at a better pace than Martirosyan, and he’s looked good recently in beating Saul Duran, Rudy Cisneros, Alex Hloros and Freddy Hernandez. The 6’1” southpaw Andrade has excellent size and reach to go along with his superb jab and power.

Martirosyan is a big step up for him, however, and it’s going to be a difficult test for Andrade to be suddenly facing someone with the power and skills of Martirosyan.

Andrade won’t be able to get Martirosyan out of there early like he’s been doing against most of his opposition, and he’s going to have to take a lot of big shots if he wants to win this fight.
