crawford44By Chris Williams: Unbeaten lightweight contender Terrence Crawford (20-0, 15 KO’s) will be taking on Alejandro Sanabria (34-1-1, 25 KO’s) in a scheduled 10 round bout on the undercard of the Mikey Garcia vs. Juan Manuel Lopez fight card on June 15th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Top Rank is really high on the 25-year-old counter punching Crawford, #11 IBF, and are moving him along to get him a hopeful title shot in the near future against Miguel Vazquez. Crawford is coming off of a 10 round unanimous decision over Breidis Prescott last March in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Crawford’s fighting style didn’t impress a lot of the boxing fans who came there for the main event between Mike Alvarado and Brandon Rios. Prescott did his part in making it exciting but Crawford fought a safety first fight for most of the fight, and that resulted in a great of booing from the fans.

Prescott landed by far the harder punches, but Crawford able to land the cleaner shots despite getting out-landed in the fight. It was one of those fights where you have to decide whether you want to give the decision to the guy landing with the higher percentage [Crawford] or the guy landing more often and with more power [Prescott].

The judges went with the guy that had the better connect percentage in giving it to Crawford, but it definitely wasn’t an exciting fight to watch.

Crawford is more of a Richard Abril/Miguel Vazquez type of fighter and he’s definitely going to be an inquired taste for fans wanting to see more action.

Sanabria only has one loss on his resume, but he’s faced less than spectacular opposition during his 9-year pro career. His best win thus far was against Rocky Juarez back in February 2011.

Crawford will probably elect to box Sanabria and use a lot of movement like he did against Prescott. If the judges like his better accuracy than he should win, but if they go for the harder puncher and the guy that lands more shots, then they’ll give it to Sanabria. It’s going to be one of those subjective things where they either go for the higher percentage or the busier guy with more power.
