By Dan Henderson: Welcome to the latest edition of my weekly British boxing round up. First of all we start with the news that Prizefighter is back and its the lightweights II. It will see Derry Mathews, Gary Sykes, Stephen Jennings and Terry Needham plus four more fighters who will announced soon, the tournament will take place at Liverpool’s Olympia on October 6th. On the same bill Wayne Reed will defend his Central Area super-middleweight title against former Prizefighter winner Rocky Fielding.

David Haye could be set to face WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in March next year possibly in London (I doubt that very much). A rematch with his IBF, WBA and IBO champion brother Wladimir has not been ruled out either.

Amir Khan will be back in the ring in December but it will not be against Danny Garcia as he has opted to face Eric Morales instead.

British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Champion George Groves will headline the Wembley Arena on Friday 14th September. Right now the British champion is in th US where he fights Mexican Francisco Sierra in San Jose, California, on Saturday 28th July in a ten round contest which can be seen live and exclusive on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546). This will be the second time Groves’ fought in America, his first was against Alfredo Contreras who he stopped in the sixth round.

Darren Barker will return to action after his World title challenge against Sergio Martinez, he will fight Italian middleweight champion Simone Rotolo for the IBF Inter Continental middleweight title on September the 8th. The following week will see fellow middleweight former British and European champion Matthew Macklin face Canadian Joachim Alcine on September 15 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Last but not least Savannah Marshall has been inducted into the Hall of Champions at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield after becoming Great Britain’s first ever female amateur boxing gold medallist. Savannah won gold at the Women’s World Amateur Boxing Championships in China to secure qualification for London 2012.

In Irish boxing news Interim champion Brian Magee will fight for the full WBA world super-middleweight title after being made mandatory challenger to face German based Hungarian champion Karoly Balzsay at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast on September 2
