Chisora: Vitali won’t have time to see me

Image: Chisora: Vitali won't have time to see meBy Scott Gilfoid: Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) isn’t worried about getting hit with anything big from WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) next month because Chisora figures to make Vitali miss with his shots with his ducking & weaving to avoid punishment.

Let’s hope for Chisora’s case he doesn’t get hit because he’s not going to last long if Vitali is able to find a home for his right and left hooks. I must say Chisora is pretty good at making guys miss with their shots. He dodged some huge bombs in the first couple of rounds against big punching Robert Helenius last December.

Chisora did get a fair amount in that fight but it was after Helenius badly injured his right hand and had lost most of his power. Helenius reportedly will be having hand operated on to fix the damage from hitting Chisora on top of the head.

Chisora said “You can only punch what you can see, and you won’t have time to see me. I’m coming to destroy him in his own backyard.”

Is Chisora kidding? How can Vitali not see him with Chisora’s wide body, slow hands and slow shuffling footwork. Chisora will be there right in front of Vitali all night long begging to be hit.

If Chisora spends the entire fight trying to get hit, I think he might actually survive the same way his fellow countryman David Haye did when he ran from Vitali’s brother Wladimir Klitschko for the entire fight last July in Haye’s lopsided 12 round decision loss.

But if Chisora tries to win the fight, he’s going to get hurt and get knocked out. There’s no doubt about it. Chisora can’t fight Vitali the same way he did his previous 17 opponents because he’s so much better than them all.

Chisora said “I’m the high shining light in boxing…I never tasted the canvas before.”

That’s interesting because it makes the fight more entertaining to see if Vitali can not only beat Chisora but put him on the canvas for the first time in his career. That’ll be nice to see if Vitali can deposit Chisora on the canvas and knock him out in the process.

But it’s really no big deal that Chisora hasn’t been knocked down because he’s only fought a couple of decent heavyweights during his career and one of them hurt his right hand early in the fight. Had Helenius been able to punch with power with his right hand, he probably would have had Chisora on the canvas two or three times before the fight eventually stopped.

Vitali will most definitely have Chisora on the canvas and may have out cold if Chisora doesn’t run from him like fellow Brit Haye ran from Wladimir. I’d see another British heavyweight running for the hills to try and save his hide but that’s probably what will happen unfortunately. Chisora will take the path of least resistance and run, run and run.
