Vitali wants to pay Chisora back for mouthing off to Wladimir

Image: Vitali wants to pay Chisora back for mouthing off to WladimirBy Scott Gilfoid: Most people don’t have a clue why WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (43-2, 40 KO’s) combed through the 2nd tier ranks to pick out B level fighter Dereck Chisora (15-2, 9 KO’s) to fight on February 18th instead of a more deserving top tier fighter on winning run and with some size to them.

But Vitali is reportedly saying one of the biggest reasons he selected the 6’1” wide-bodied Chisora to fight instead of someone ranked in the top 15 is because Chisora gave Vitali’s little brother Wladimir Klitschko some lip when the two of them were poised two fight on two separate occasions last year and this year.

Wladimir cancelled both fights because of a nagging abdominal tear, which healed up miraculously when David Haye showed interest in fighting Wladimir. Whatever the case, Vitali didn’t like Chisora giving his thoughts about little brother Wladimir, and he wants to pay him back for that. I guess this as good a reason as anything, but how can Vitali blame Chisora for opening his mouth about some of the things he’s noticed about Wladimir? Chisora was only speaking the truth when he pointed out that Wladimir has a weak chin.

Why take issue with Chisora just telling it like it is? Vitali beating on Chisora won’t change a thing about Wladimir’s chin, will it? Gosh, Vitali will have to whip the entire division if he feels his job to protect his brother from comments from other fighters, because I think it’s a common opinion that Wladimir’s chin is questionable.

I think Chisora would have had a decent chance against Wladimir if he could have caught up to him to land one of his big shots. But that said, Chisora doesn’t have a good chance against Vitali. Chisora will land some good shots every now and then, but it won’t be enough. Vitali will be blasting little Chisora round after until the referee pulls the plug on the fight. It’s going to be a sickening fight to watch but at least Vitali can protect his little brother from Chisora’s hurtful words.

It’s not going to shut him up though. I expect Chisora to continue to badger Wladimir until he stands up and tries to beat him on his own instead of letting big brother do the dirty work for him. Vitali was the one that avenged Wladimir’s knockout defeats at the hands of Ross Purity and Corrie Sanders in the past.
