Saul Alvarez – Ulises Solis. Who is lying?

By Gerardo Granados: Photo credit: Alma Montiel – The World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was accused by the IBF light fly weight champion Ulises “Archie” Solis to have assaulted him. In real life you don’t get to pick your opponent in case a street brawl surface, if you have been involved in one street scuffle you know you have to make a choice: to run and avoid the fight or to engage no matter how big or dangerous your opponent might be or apparently be.
The allegations made by Solis might not be able to prove, so this will be the classic he said vs. he said but there is no way to prove who´s telling the truth. Maybe the WBC supports his champion and wants to help Solis by offering to pay his hospital bills; maybe Canelo was present but did not hit Ulises. Maybe Solis got confused and did not remember who hit him, why would Solis lie?
This issue resulted in a total mismatch for Ulises Solis because he is not the next boxing cash cow as Saul Alvarez will become, so he might have to settle with an outside court arrangement made by promoters. If the alleged aggression had taken place in the United Stated he would have a good chance to get justice but don’t aspect that he will be able to get any justice in Mexico
We might never get to know the truth, but Ulises Solis must be a really brave son of boxing to engage against a guy way bigger and more powerful than him. Hope “Archie” heals fast and gets back to training soon, and also champion remember to protect yourself at all times.
As for Alvarez only time will tell if this incident will affect his image or favor it. This incident is getting more attention than his fight against Kermit Cintron so it can´t be good for him.

Alvarez is for real, he can box and fight, if he wore the reyez gloves he would KO everyone who he has faced. Alvarez has the power footwork and speed to be a champion and if he has the right competion maybe a legend. Cintron has zero chance of beating Alvarez. Cintron has not fought in over 16 months, and has not done well in fights with slick boxers.
Canelo is red headed step child adopted by the mexicans why who knows?? Can’t wait for this overrated taco toget beat.

@666_canela has some really tough opponents in front of him…very good boxers that will make him pay his mistakes outside the ring,,,i just hope cintron brings some of the juice use he used to have before the margo fights..just to have him do a chin check on little ginger!!!!

canelo has turned into a punk kid that has let the fame get to his head, i saw archie an t.v last night and he has no reason to lye canelo broke his jaw and we know that’s the most important part of a boxers body. archie is never going to be the same, alvarez should pay up a couple of million dollars to this great champion and have the balls to admit he did it and not try to say it was his brother archie said he is the only redhead how can i mistaken it was him. hope cintron takes that belt with a k.o.

Then Solis should get his revenge another way. there are equalizers you know. size doesn’t always matter.
A fighter will always be a fighter, but to punch a 5’ tall, 108 pounds man when you’re 5’9” 154 is quite unfair. What would Solis win by lying about it? Justice will not be served in Mexico; however, there’s a man out there that would definitely put Canelo in a world of pain. Come on “PERRO ANGULO”, you need to knock this SOB out and serve some justice for little Solis.

El pugilista tapatío Ulises “Archie” Solís fue agredido por el campéón mundial de peso superwelter del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB), Saúl “El Canelo” Álvarez. Solís platicó con EL UNIVERSAL y relató su versión de los hechos.
La agresión tuvo lugar en la Barranca de Oblatos, en Jalisco, donde entrenaban ambos. “Archie” sufrió una fractura doble en la mandíbula y será operado esta noche en el hospital Puerta de Hierro.
“Me lo topé (a Álvarez) cuando termina de entrenar en la Barranca de Oblatos, me hice a un lado para dejarlo pasar, pero nos topamos. De pronto me comenzó a reclamar muchas cosas, me preguntó: ‘¿Por qué andas con mi mujer?’. A lo que le dije que ni la conozco. Y sin más me conectó un volado de izquierda y un cruzado de derecha, con lo que me fracturó la mandíbula.
“Caí, me incorporé y de nuevo me tiró un par de golpes, uno me pega en la sien y el otro en el pecho. Lo quise frenar”, relató Solís, quien de inmediato fue auxiliado por su hermano, éste lo llevó a que le hicieran una evaluación médica y posteriormente lo acompañó a hacer la denuncia de dicha agresión ante la Procuraduría de Justicia de Jalisco.

Like Mexico has justice and rules. Hell half the sherriffs and mayors get killed. Politicians in Mexico are an endangered breed. Mexico is 300 years in the past no laws rules or order just 1 billion greasers running wild.
i was reding a mexican newspaper and it says that saul has been cited to declare cause he is facing some charges and could go to jail..hahahahaha i really hope cintron kick his azz!!!!!

i can tell saul has an arrogant side to him. he most likely did punch the guy but he will get away with it cuz of who he is in mexico. i wouldn’t mind hitting saul in the face if he comes to jersey.
@Superjc, I am in Mexico and you may also be or at least should know that in this country money talks. Corruption is crazy here. Just look at Presunto Culpable (Presumed Guilty) just to get an idea of how justice works here. Oh and I’m Mexican.
