Mormeck, 5’11”, is older, slower, smaller, weaker and fighting in a hostile German city against the the much loved home fighter Wladimir. It pretty much gives Mormeck little chance but to knock Wladimir out if he wants to win the fight, not that Mormeck has the size or the skills to outbox Wladimir. He probably never did to begin with.

Mormeck has been feeling good lately, and says he’s never felt so strong and so fast before. Whether that’s true or not, it really doesn’t matter. Mormeck would be in trouble against Wladimir no matter what stage in Mormeck’s career he was in because Wladimir is just so good right now that he’s not going to be beaten by aging former crusierweight champion.

The only way Mormeck can win if he comes into the fight with a plan. When I say plan, I mean secret strategy where he’s spotted a flaw in Wladimir’s game that he thinks he can exploit. Goodness knows, there are plenty of areas where Wladimir is vulnerable and one them is in close where he has no inside game.

The short-armed Mormeck will have an advantage in this area if he can get Wladimir to slug with him at short range. That’s obviously not going to happen. Wladimir will keep the fight at a distance and elect to clinch Mormeck each time he gets close to try and land his big shots.

Mormeck’s chance is when Wladimir goes to grab him, he’s got a split second where he can tag Wladimir before he goes to grab him. That’s about the best and only chance Mormeck has to win this fight. He hits hard and he’s got to make the most of it.
