I’m Starting to Lose Respect for Pacquiao

pac3336By Manuel Perez: The more I hear about Manny Pacquiao looking for a bout against Miguel Cotto the more I lose complete respect for Manny. First Pacquiao fights a shot and weight drained Oscar De La Hoya, who had to agree to come in at one of Pacquiao’s catch weight requests, then Pacquiao fights another shot fighter in Ricky Hatton, who also looked weight drained.

And if that wasn’t enough, the word that’s moving around is that Pacquiao will be fighting the scarred up left eye Miguel Cotto next. Man, what perfect timing, eh? Cotto just gets out of a life and death match with Joshua Clottey that if you were being kind would call a draw for Cotto and now Pacquiao is looking at fighting him. What happened to Shane Mosley?

I mean I know Pacquiao will never fight him because he’s probably far too dangerous for him, but come on, do the right thing and show who you are, Pacquiao. Catch weights, opponents that are weight drained and with diminished ability to take a punch.

I think I’m officially sick of Pacquiao. I want him to either retire or move back down and pick on fighters in his own weight class, preferably good ones like Juan Manuel Marquez rather than hunting down lesser fighters in the lightweight division.

Choosing Cotto right now is like going after an easy mark. Cotto looked like utter crap against Clottey, and there’s no point in the fight. That is such a major waste of time for Pacquiao. He needs to either take the fight with Mosley or else shove Mayweather aside and give Marquez a rightful rematch.

Now that would be a meaningful fight. Beating up on a near defenseless Cotto wouldn’t even be sport. That would be like taking a bunch of chickens, putting them in a cage and then letting them out while you stand over them with a shotgun poised to spray bird shot at them.

It’s hardly fair to beat up on Cotto. He looked pathetic against Clottey, running around the ring in wide circles like a track star. I think the powerful Mexican Antonio Margarito left some damaging effects with his 11th round beating of Cotto last year and what we’re seeing now is diminishing returns on the part of Cotto.

If it gets Pacquiao off to beat a fighter like this, then so beat it, go ahead and get him. But I won’t have anything good to say about it, you can bet on that. I’ll long and loud about the wrongness of a fight like this. Cotto needs to get his act together and try beating some fighters in a convincing manner without taking major punishment.

Cotto looked like he ran into a truck face first in his fight with Clottey last Saturday, and it wasn’t just the cut from the head butt. Cotto got hit with a mess of right hands and looked pretty well beaten up by the end of the fight. I’d like to see Cotto fight Clottey again, as I said previously, and prove that he can beat him.

Thank you, Wayne Lord, a real analysis.

  • 3 stars and a glove says:

oh come on! Pacman is now the 6th highest paid athlete! how come he gets paid that much when no one else respects him. batangeno and perez, you can suck each others dik! hehe! i’d rather believe a person who is being disrespected by others than a person who disrespects people.

JMM will be never be respected unless he proves it by defeating other big fighters. He can earn by making his own fights not by grabbing a Pacman victory. He only focuses on one thing. getting humilliated! Let him try to beat Mayweather then maybe… he’ll get a shot at pacquiao.

and by the way, pacman wants Mayweather jr. but all decisions are made by his promoter not him! dumbasss!

  • zee zee says:

    WHEN HE DESTROYED HATTON ??????????????

    REMEMBER THAT, WHERES THE RESPECT,

HE WILL FIGHT COTTO, AND BEAT HIM, because cotto can get hurt, and knocked down, where as pacman, his too clever strong, quick, for that, under the guidance of freddy roach

  • manuelisaloser says:

manuel perez is an anti pac writer same thing with this website. check all his other articles they are all against pac. whoever pacs opponent is he’ll go for it. basically he cant wait to see pac lose that’s all. he just cant accept it that jmm lost to pac twice. the first fight the judge made a mistake scoring the 3 knockdowns. he just cant accept that manny defeated all the mexican legends. like him theyre all losers. dumb ass manuela!

  • Steve Hawkins says:

How about Manuela V.S. Pacman fight?

  • lito says:

how can you lose respect if you do not any? how stupid!

  • joe says:

So beating Cotto is easy? If that was the case then why dont you go and fight him. Im sure we would all love to see that

  • Jahziel says:

Bwahahahaha…..As if Manny Pacquiao’s world will crumble if you don’t respect him.

Manny Pacquiao doesn’t even know who you are. Don’t give too much importance to yourself dude. Pacquiao doesn’t need your respect. You can disrespect Manny all you want, Manny will still be great and you?

You will still be a nitwit. UP YOURS!!!

  • Zach says:

You are so far from reality with this article. It doesn’t take much knowledge of the sport or common sense to figure out Cotto is a great fighter and the fight between him and Clottey was a good fight. You speak on Cotto’s pitifulness during his fight with Clottey. Are you kidding me? Cotto was cut above the left eye, which leaves him open to right hands dumbass. And he still continued on throughout the fight. Then you speak on running like a track star, if so, how the hell was he pinning Clottey in the corner so many times? You are severely misguided and bias in your articles. This fight will be a good one, between great fighters. The only thing I would agree with you on is the whole weight ordeal. If you want the big fight and the pay, go to them, not ask that they come to your weight. Also, he should be fighting Mosley, not because Cotto isn’t good enough, but because he is on top of the class.

  • bjorn says:

I’m Starting to Lose Respect for Pacquiao – when did you ever respect Pacquiao? As usual you are an “Ass”

  • tis4u2envy says:

I’m gonna seriously start a cartel or a group of Perez haters so that we can get you off the f&?king writing block and into walmart so you can get a head start on your new career as a bagger. Something that doesn’t require you to use your noggin. Dude not only do you suck but you know you suck and are still proud of the crap you post.

  • tis4u2envy says:

to say Cotto looked like he had lingering affects from the Margo fight is Utterly stupid. I mean my memory serves me correct even if he lost the fight he finished and thats with one eye. If anyone looks finished at all it is your girlfriend Margarito. Let me ask you boxing expert Perez who looked better since there fights Cotto 2-0 Margarito 0-1 suffering a horrible knockout to someone Cotto beat?

  • Cotto-hin says:

Damn! You want pacquiao to fight Mosley, when Cotto beat Mosley! Hummmm! I got an idea! put this fighter in a Rumble match, and who ever win, wins the P4P role. Pacman is only 1 person. If he beat Cotto, then Mosley’s next or FMW. And as for your Respect, he dont need it! Cotto vs Pac Next…..

  • eddiemgee says:

oops, there you go, i just couldnt ignore, and have added a comment to this idiots rantings, he wins!!

  • eddiemgee says:

is this person allowed to write these articles beacause there have to be so many articles per day/week/hour? i mean, every time i have a look at this site, all i seem to see are his whinging, pathetic attempts to discredit an elite athlete/boxer, with very regular and blatently obvious anti-pacquiao messages. maybe to some they seem a little SUBLIMINAL, but to most respectful unbiased sports fans, they are nothing more than childish, personal attacks, hidden behind quiet stupid, moronic and incorrect assumptions. Would it not be better, as others have suggested simply to ignore, and never add comments to this idiot’s rantings. This way, he might eventually get the message and realise that no one gives a damn what he either says or thinks!

  • Anonymous says:

mr. perez! whaT A JOKE ! how can you lose respect when in the first place you do not have ANY for pq.

  • laguna says:

your full of crap manuela who are you??????you are just a sad writer and top of it you are a lousy one.

  • upset reader says:

MANUEL PEREZ, YOU NEVER HAVE GIVEN PACQUIAO RESPECT AT ALL.ALL OF THESE SO-CALLED ARTICLES YOU HAVE BEEN WRITING ABOUT PACQUIAO ARE ALL HATE MAILS FOR PACQUIAO. FIRST OF ALL, BOXING IS BEING NEGOTIATED BY BOTH SIDES. IF PACQUIAO’S OPPONENTS AGREES WITH THOSE CATHC WEIGHTS, THAT MEANS, PACQUIAO DID NOT TO FORCE THEM TO SIGN THE PAPERS. THAT THEY WANT TO GET IN THE RING WITH PACQUIAO. AGAIN THEY AGREED WITH THE NEGOTIATIONS AND SIGNED THE PAPERS AT THEIR OWN FREE WILL. PEREZ YOU ARE A HATER.

  • HenryL says:

Pacquiao could care less what you think anyway.

  • dvan says:

Geez, what does a guy have to do for respect. In a perfect world the fighters would make all the decisions. But they are almost all managed by someone that does that for them. Why do people complain about manny wanting people to come down to meet him. He had to come up to meet everyone else when he wasn’t the man. Everyone is calling him out, not the other way around. To fight all the guys people say he has to to get respect he is by default taking the size handicap. And my god get off the Oscar deal. He was suppose to loose that fight so bad, it was Oscar’s fault not to rehydrate properly. It was Oscar who made the fight. My god if he beats Cotto, Mosley and Mayweather people would say he is a coward for not fighting Klitschko or Pavlik or Hopkins. No other fighter had this much put on him to be considered great.

  • nepster says:

Good point Millertime. Manuela Perez is probably the sweaty IT dude in my office that really creeps the women out. Whenever they have a problem with their computer, they always ask me to ask him because they just get too creeped out by him. The guy that no one ever asks to lunch with and he ends up tagging along with me and my friends give me a wierd look like why did you invite that creepy dude. I’m like I didn’t, he just sort of came along. Anyway, manuela perez is that dude.

  • Millertime82 says:

Manuela has no credibility especially when it comes to PAC even though Pac is his obsession.

JMM Lover has said that Manny was going to lose his last 2 fights, not only lose but basically get embarassed by Oscar and Hatton. Obviously he couldn’t have been more wrong. Most of Manuela’s points are contradicting from his previous articles. In a previous article Manuela basically said that Cotto would beat Pac no matter what. Now he isn’t giving Cotto a chance…what a flip-flopper. Again, Manuela has probably never laced up the gloves and is some fat guy that just likes to annoy people around him for fun…he’s “that guy”.

  • kyle says:

is this guy for real typeing crap

  • Ray says:

This Perez fellow has it in for Cotto and Pac Man. On the flip side he talks about the great Mexican’t fighters. I should have been a writer because compared Mr. Perez anything I write will be Pulitzer prize material.

Oh wait, I think I figured this Perez fellow out. I will go out on a limb and say that he gets off on the comments directed against him for writing his biasd articles. He probably writes nonsense purposely so that we hit him with our loads, which evidently excite him.

  • FLASHBERNARD says:

who are you anyway perez? what do know about boxing?

  • mark f says:

Perez, Oscar De La Hoya called out Pac-man, and seeing as Pac-man had only fought at lightweight twice for him to go up to Welter was a bigger risk than what oscar was taking, Oscar thought that he would be too big for him and got a nasty shock.
As for Hatton, as miuch as I wanted Ricky to win I didnt think he would, and remember this fight happenend at a weight where all but two of Hattons fight had taken place, and all were victories

  • nepster says:

Ukansodoff – Apollo Creed was SHOT after the first Balboa fight. He proved it by getting KTFO in Rocky 2. If Manny went after Apollo, then he’s obviously ducking Rocky.

  • greg. says:

y do they have a comment box and wen u leave 1 them just delete it???? cnt take the heat can u manuela

  • Ukansodoff says:

Yeah im losing respect for the Pacman too, i meam hes fooling us all here and we dont even know it.

    DLH – Bum
    Hatton – Bum
    JMM – Bum
    Cotto – bum.

Somehow the whole worlds been taken for a fool, we all thought these were top quality boxers as did fellow professionals, pundits and other experts.

But Pacman knows better as does Manuel Perez. We should all get behin Perez’s stance on this and we should work hard and demand that Manny Pacquiao faces a none bum like Vitali Klitchko or Apollo Creed.

  • Frank Mullin says:

What the hell are you on about, mate? Manny has done nothing but prove himself a fighter who ducks no-one. He’s beaten Barrera, Morales, De la Hoya, Hatton, Marquez… do I need to go on? Mosley was in the Boxing wilderness until recently, and so I don’t know what your argument represents here?

    Chill brother…

  • david ibanez says:

pacquiao wil be the president of the philippines one of these days and he will get rid of all the corruption and make the the philippines the country of opportunity for all like what america has done for him…

  • Jimmy says:

By the way, I say it should be Pacman Vs. Maweather (now that he can opt out of his fight with Marquez) in November. Let them make it a 50/50 or close to a 50/50 split and make it happen. Arum will guarantee 15 million to both fighters. Let’s make the real fight happen. Cotto and Mosley are obviously lower-tier fights than a fight with Mayweather.

  • Anonymous says:

Did you honestly say Hatton looked weight drained. He’s fought at 140 near enough his whole career

  • Anonymous says:

You’ve never had any respect for Pacquiao your just a jealous nobody who knows nothing about boxing

  • nepster says:

Manuela – I highly doubt that Manny Pacquiao will lose sleep over whether you respect him or not. He’s too busy sleeping on pile of his millions of dollars.

  • manuel_hater says:

u you cotto will be an easy fight for manny?better think again. The guys more bigger, stronger, and younger compare 2 manny…

  • Jimmy says:

So Shane Mosley with five losses (including one to Miguel Cotto) is so much better of choice of opponent than Cotto? Cotto lost one fight to an illegally loaded glove wearing Margarito, and he’s supposed to be shot. Clottey by on means dominated Cotto whether you think he pulled out a pencil-thin decision or not. As a matter fact, Clottey landed far less punches than Cotto in the championship rounds. The fight was a one-point fight that could have swung either way (although I had Clottey winning by one point).

I think De La Hoya should be criticized for trying to call out fighters in lower weight divisions. He’s done it throughout his career: Mosley, Pacman, Mayweather, Hatton and more. I would rather see Pacman fight Mayweather, but Mayweather would rather make take less money overall getting the bigger percentage than making a lot more money and getting an even split or slightly less money. Mayweather is not the business man he thinks he is, and it’s his fault the fight with Pacman isn’t happening as Roach and Pacman have already stated Mayweather was the preferable choice as next opponent. If Pacquiao can get a 60-40 split with Cotto and get the him to agree to the same catch weight as Mosley would have agreed to fight, then I don’t see a problem with fighting Cotto over Mosley. Cotto has the better record is a bigger draw. Cotto/Margarito was a ppv fight while Mosley had to fight on regular Hbo. So if he gets the same concessions with Cotto as he would Mosley, I think Cotto might be the better choice: more money, bigger fight, better record, and he holds a win over Mosley. MAB, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya are all victims of the Pacman’s storm. Besides, defeating more hall of famers than any other current fighter, Pacman has raised his game in his last 3 fights to a whole another level, and he is one of the greatest lb for lb fighters to ever live like or not Perez.

    P. S. We must enforce the illegal immigration law… it’s a Federal Law Mexicans and all others must be deported if the are not citizens or over stay their Visa visit.

  • PIC says:

I know a someone who lost his wits because of too much hatred and ended up committing suicide. C’mon Manuel Perez, go hang yourself and have it witnessed by news photographer. Better still have it covered live on TV. I’m sure you will make lots of people very hapy to see you dangling at the end of a rope. You may also want to jump from a high building or go on a hunger strike until your hatred for Pacman will go away, that is, if you survive.

  • Batangueño says:

The fight I’d like to see is Pac-Mosley or Pac-Williams at 147… too bad it won’t happen. I like Pac, believe it or not, but it’s gonna be a lot of fun to see the chicken tinola beaten out of him.

[To those who haven't seen my past post: I'd like to let you know that I don't read any response to my post, so don't waste forum space. I used to read and argue but not anymore. For every one smart response I read, there were dozens of nonsense. Peace. :-) ]

  • Batangueño says:

Cotto is no longer the fighter he used to be, at least in his last few fights. He could be in a funk, but I seriously think he was damaged by Margarito. On a second thought, I did not expect him to dominate Clottey. The latter is no pushover. But the fight I’d like to see is Pac-Mosley or Pac-Williams at 147.

  • Mike says:

You can’t lose something you never had. Cotto is still a dangerous fight for manny anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool, oh wait….

  • Mitch Adolf says:

    Starting to Lose Respect?

    …….Starting!?

From all of your Pacquiao articles. You never respect Pacquiao in the first place.

Mr. Manuel Perez, I wanna ask you a question.
    Who are you anyway?

  • Aussi says:

You never had any respect for Manny. Who are you anyway?

  • Matt Porter says:

They both have MP initials……………..Perez idolises Pac. Jealous he won’t return his calls.

  • David says:

Undercover Pac lover. His Title says it all.

Hey everyone we can all stop guessing if he really enjoy watching MP. I said it before and I’ll say it again…Mr. Perez really don’t hate Pac, Pac is his number one fighter. He just writes stuff like this so he can hide his true identity so his follow mexican/family won’t disown him. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Kabayan says:

Perez, I dont think you really care that much about respect unless the boxer comes from Mexico.

Well, at least this article has much more reason than the one insisting that Pacquiao fight Williams.

  • The Brahma Bull says:

Sorry, meant to say that Cotto has a win over Mosley. It’s getting late. My typing skills are getting just as bad as Manuel’s articles.

  • The Brahma Bull says:

Starting? If you’re just starting, I wonder what you’d say when you lose total respect for him.

First, people want him to face the great welterweights. Now that he has chosen to, he gets no respect. Miguel Cotto is considered one of the greatest welterweights. If Pacquiao doesn’t fight him now, when should he fight him. Will Pacquiao end up fighting him when he’s totally washed up? What would people say about Pacquiao? Let’s face it. Cotto will be his first welterweight fighter that he’s gone up against. Oscar doesn’t count since he usually fights at 154 and Ricky doesn’t count because, I believe, he’s only fought at 147 once. Even though it won’t be a welterweight fight, it will be against one of the greatest.

Second, Pacquiao has to face him. It’s either him or Mosley. No matter which one he faces, he has to go in the ring with either fighter before they’re totally gone from the sport. It’s only been since December that the welterweights have challenged him. Just because he fought at 147 doesn’t mean he can go toe to toe with the top welterweights out there. Oscar was nowhere near the top. Roach knew it and allowed Pacquiao to fight him. Now that Pacquio can’t make the weight, Freddie knows for sure that Pacquiao won’t be able to hang at 147.

By choosing Cotto, Manny is trying to make a name for himself. In all honesty, Cotto didn’t look bad, considering he had a severe cut during most of the fight while facing Clottey of all people. Cotto did defeat Mosley and is younger than him as well. If Pacquiao fights Mosley, people will be saying that he’s ducking Cotto. Since Cotto is younger and has a defeat over Mosley, people won’t say that he’s ducking Mosley and chose a weaker fighter.

  • fleabug says:

i thought pacquiao who moved up 2 division higher just to meet the challenge of de la hoya who dictated the weight they should be fighting. isn’t it de la hoya who made the challenge and the conditions? is it pacquiao’s fault that he took the challenge? nobody even believed that pacquaio can beat de la hoya, not even you. and the way you are writing articles about pacquiao you are not even showsing respect for the guy, only criticism. is it bad to even the playing fields just to challenge a fighter? you do not respect pacquiao mr. perez, i guess you are really obsessed with him.
