york5544By Sam Gregory: This Saturday night March 7th, TKO Boxing presents “Battle of York” 3 at the historic Valencia ballroom in York, Pa. The world class boxing card will feature York Pa’s own undefeated featherweight Carney “Beeper” Bowman 12-0 with 5 KO’s who in his last appearance at the Valencia last November stopped Castulo Gonzalez in four rounds. Also headlining the card as the co-main event is super bantamweight Eric Nemo 6-1 with 2 KO’s who is also from York, Pa. making his first appearance in his hometown.

Also on the card that night making his first appearance in York is Jr middleweight contender Anthony “The Messenger” Thompson 23-3 with 17 KO’s from Philadelphia who is coming off a highly controversial lose that was televised on ESPN this past August. Thompson was facing Ismail Arvin when he suffered a cut from an accidental head-butt in the third round after having dropped Arvin twice in the round. The fight was later stopped at the end of the sixth round with Arvin getting the nod instead of going to the judge’s cards in a bout that ringside observers had Thompson ahead at the time of the stoppage.

Making a return appearance to the Valencia is fast rising cruiserweight/heavyweight prospect Andres Taylor 6-0 with 3 KO’s who is coming off an exciting third round stoppage of Jim Emrick on the undercard of the Kelly Pavlik-Marco Antonio Rubio fight in Youngstown, Ohio February 21st.

Rounding out Saturday’s fight card are two undefeated prospects from the Dominican Republic super featherweight Delvin Plascencia 15-0 with 6 KO’s and knockout specialist Francisco Contreras 8-0 with 8 KO’s. These two fighters will be appearing in separate bouts.
