Hatton Should Pull Out and Move On

I can’t believe Hatton is even wasting his time lowering himself to even consider accepting anything less than a 50-50 purse split deal with Manny. If Hatton wants any self respect left after this mess, he needs to immediately put his foot down and walk away.

Don’t bother wasting words with ultimatums, just move the heck on and go hunt down some other fighter. That’s what I would do. I could care less if I missed out on this or that. It hardly matters, anyway. It’s not like Hatton can’t make up the difference fighting a little longer against other fighters.

Even it takes four or five fights to make up for this one, he needs to do that rather than lower himself any further and stooping down to this level. He’s already rich enough to live the rest of his life comfortably without working, so why should he take this?

I don’t think he’s going to win anyway. It’s better to take less money, keep winning rather than to have to fight on other peoples’ terms. I say walk away, Ricky. You have a lot of other opponents out there, starting with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya, who both want to fight you.

Heck, you could even fight the best light welterweights in the division like Timothy Bradley and Junior Witter, and surprise everyone by proving you’re the best in the division. Anything but don’t give in and take less than what you’re worth for a fight with Pacquiao. I would have been long gone as soon as I heard the 60-40 stuff coming from Pacquiao.

At the end of the day, Hatton is probably the more popular fighter and should at least be given a 50-50 purse split based on that, even if he’s not considered to be as good as Pacquiao. Good doesn’t always equal better pay. Boxing is part show business and you can’t deny that Hatton is easily the more media savvy fighter than Pacquiao. I think Hatton needs to end negotiations at once with Pacquiao and don’t take a backwards glance. He’s better than that.
