Triller wants Barack Obama to commentate Teofimo vs. Kambosos on Oct.4th

By Sean Jones: Triller Fight Club CEO Ryan Kavanaugh is reportedly in talks to have ex-U.S president Barack Obama commentate next month’s October 4th fight between undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr.

You got to respect Kavanaugh for his PT Barnum approach to selling this dreadful pay-per-view mismatch between Teofimo and Kambosos.

ESPN’s Mike Coppinger reports that Kavanaugh is in talks with the Obama Foundation to get Barack to commentate on IBF/WBA/WBC/WBO lightweight champion Teofimo’s mandatory defense against Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 10 KOs).

While it’s hard to believe that Obama would agree to something like this, it’s certainly possible. Kavanaugh has former U.S president Donald Trump giving commentary for this Saturday’s Triller pay-per-view card headlined by Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort in Florida.

Trump used to be involved in putting together sporting events in the 1980s, which might explain why he was willing to be involved in the Holyfield – Belfort fight.

Teofimo (16-0, 12 KOs) will be fighting the Australian Kambosos Jr. at Madison Square Garden in New York.

You have to know that by Kavanaugh just putting it out there that he’s working on getting Obama to work the Teofimo vs. Kambosos Jr. fight, it’s going to create more buzz in a match that is sorely lacking.

Boxing fans aren’t excited about the Teofimo-Kambosos Jr fight because it’s a sad mismatch involving a guy that U.S fans have little knowledge of in Kambosos about to get torn apart by Teofimo a relative newcomer to the sport.

The chances of Obama agreeing to do commentary for the Teofimo fight are slim and none, but it’ll likely help create interest in the fight if Kavanaugh keeps talking about the possibility. So even if Obama doesn’t work the fight, more people will about the match than otherwise would have.

Why stop with Obama? Kavanaugh might as well start asking other notable people not connected with boxing if they want to commentate the Teofimo vs. Kambosos Jr. As long as Kavanaugh mentions the different notable people he’s talking to, there will be more buzz for this lackluster fight.

Kavanaugh should try asking these famous people to commentate the Teofimo-Kambosos fight:

  • Joe Biden
  • George Bush
  • Bill Gates
  • Robert Downey Jr
  • Vladimir Putin
  • Jeff Bezos
  • Kylie Jenner
  • ‘The Rock’ Dwayne Johnson
  • Cristiano Ronaldo

As long as Kavanaugh makes sure he’s telling the media about each famous people he speaks to about commenting on the Teofimo vs. Kambosos fight, he could help sell the thing on pay-per-view.

“Triller’s Ryan Kavanaugh tells me he’s in talks with the Obama Foundation to have Barack Obama commentate on a gamecast of the Teofimo Lopez-George Kambosos fight. Donald Trump is calling a gamecast of Evander Holyfield-Vitor Belfort tomorrow with Donald Trump Jr.,” said @MikeCoppinger.
