Spence vs. Crawford = 50-50 fight says Shane Mosley Jr

By Chris Williams: Shane Mosley Jr. is excited about the potential unification fight between welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford that could be taking place next between the two stars.

Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) looked like a machine last weekend, mowing down WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas by a tenth-round knockout at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The punch output from Spence was from another world with the way he threw nonstop punches, forcing the 35-year-old Ugas to fight for survival from the opening round.

Spence’s performance made it difficult to see Crawford as having any chance against him aside from getting on his bike and staying on it for the full 12 rounds.

One would hope Crawford won’t choose to avoid Spence the entire fight because he’s going to ruin it for the fans.

In Mosley Jr’s view, he sees the Spence-Crawford clash as a “50-50” toss-up, but that will depend on whether Terence can rally as he did in his last fight against Shawn Porter in the later rounds.

Mosley says Crawford was losing the fight to Porter in his opinion after the ninth round, and he came back in the tenth to stop the 33-year-old former IBF/WBC 147-lb champion.

“Absolutely, that’s what it should be, why not?” said Shane Mosley Jr. to Fighthype about Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford fighting next for the undisputed welterweight championship.

“Honestly, we would have liked to have seen them a long time ago, but it’s the right time now, and I think everybody wants to see the fight. The fighters want to fight.

“Obviously they want to get the money correct, but we’re in for a great fight when it happens. I would say this is the closest you can get to 50-50 you can get.

“This is definitely Leonard-Hearns, this is a 50-50 fight. It’s whoever has the best night that day, and they’ve both proven themselves time and time again when the lights come on and the show starts, they’re at their best.

“So explosions, man. I can’t wait,” Mosley Jr. said about the Spence vs. Crawford fight. “I want to see that fight badly. 1o0%, I think somebody definitely gets knocked out because they both, as you can see, are willing to go for it, like put it out there.

“Will he [Crawford] be able to do that shift against Errol because Errol can meet you there,” said Mosley about whether Crawford can rally against Spence as he did in his fight against Shawn Porter.

“I can’t wait to see it. I think both of them have multiple gears and obviously, they want to fight for it. It’s a great fight,” said Mosley Jr. of the Crawford vs. Spence fight.
