By Eric Thomas: Former boxing great Hector “Macho” Camacho has been declared clinically brain dead according to AP. This comes after Camacho was shot in the jaw on Tuesday night in a shooting in Puerto Rico. The 50-year-old Camacho has been hospitalized ever since on a respirator and in a deep coma. Camacho’s family are no left with the choice whether to remove him from life support.

Dr. Ernesto Torres told AP “We have done everything we could.”

Part of Camacho’s family wants him taken off life support but there is still some disagreement.

Camacho lost a lot of blood during the shooting due to the bullet piercing three arteries, disrupting blood flow to his brain. This in turn caused damage to his brain. Camacho’s condition was worsened when Camacho reportedly suffered a heart attack.
