Atlas gives Povetkin a good shot of beating Wladimir Klitschko on October 5th

povetkin41By Allan Fox: Teddy Atlas of ESPN is giving WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (26-0, 18 KO’s) a good shot of pulling off an upset against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51 KO’s) in their fight on in Moscow Russia at the Olimpiyskiy on October 5th.

Atlas trained Povetkin up until recently and knows what he’s capable of going in the ring after seeing for himself. Atlas has given Povetkin advice in how to beat Klitschko, and he feels that if Povetkin will follow the advice then me can win.

Image: Atlas: Marquez beats Pacquiao if the judges don’t rob him againBy Chris Williams: ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas firmly believes that Juan Manuel Marquez deserved to win the last two fights with Manny Pacquiao after their first fight in 2004 was ruled a draw.

Atlas has no problems with the scoring of the first fight but he definitely does in the last two and he thinks Pacquiao shouldn’t have been given the decisions in both of those fights. Tonight, Atlas sees Marquez winning the fight, just as he has in the last two, but he questions whether the judges will give him the decision.

Atlas said to ESPN “Really the right question is who gets the decision. I think the guy that wins is the guy that won the last two fights and that’s Juan Manuel Marquez. He wins the fight again but these corrupt and incompetent judges that have been around in the business unfortunately for a long time, they they finally give it to the right guy?

Image: Atlas predicts KO victory for Sergio Martinez over Chavez Jr on SaturdayBy Dan Ambrose: ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas is predicting a knockout win for former WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (49-2-2, 28 KO’s) on Saturday night against WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-0-1, 32 KO’s) in their grudge match on HBO pay per view at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Atlas, a former trainer, sees Martinez’s hand speed, foot speed, experience and boxing ability being way too much for the inexperienced and slower Chavez Jr. Atlas thinks that Martinez’s overall talent will negate the size, youth and the inside fighting skills that Chavez Jr’s possesses in this fight.
