The event is headlined by the eagerly anticipated WBC world middleweight championship bout, as Saul Alvarez defends against Amir Khan. Earlier this week Curtis took some time to chat with me over the phone during final preparations for Saturday.

Earlier this year, Stevens made the big decision to begin training with John David Jackson in Florida, after a lifetime of being trained by his uncle Andre Rozier.

Teixeira, Ochoa shine at LA Fight Club

IMG_6598By Michael Montero, photos: Tiffany Lam As advertised, the latest edition of “LA Fight Club” from Golden Boy Promotions delivered action Friday night in downtown Los Angeles. On this night two undefeated prospects would score impressive stoppage victories to move closer to title contention.

A ten round middleweight fight served as the main event, with Brazilian Patrick Teixeira facing off against Houston native Don Mouton. The Texan came out guns blazing in the opening seconds of the first round, but it was Teixeira who quickly established himself with his superior firepower. The taller, rangier fighter mixed up his punches upstairs and downstairs and worked his angles well.
