By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan says that he likes the idea of facing newly crowned WBA World welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (35-3-1, 17 KOs) after his 12 round unanimous decision win over WBA 147lb champion David Avanesyan (22-2-1, 11 KOs) last Saturday night. Peterson beat Khan by a 12 round split decision victory on December 10, 2011. It was a controversial win for Peterson, as Khan twice had points deducted in the fight for him pushing off in rounds 7 and 12.

“Peterson beat Avanesyan love that fight at 147lbs #WBA title,” said Khan via his Twitter. “Fights “I’m confident that can happen in 2017. Garcia vs. Thurman winner. Avanseyan vs. Peterson winner. Miguel Cotto or Kel brook #Big Year.”

Khan: I want to beat Garcia and Peterson before I move up to 147

khan01By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (27-3, 19 KO’s) has set a goal for himself before he moves up to the welterweight division to go after the big names in that weight class. Khan wants to avenge his losses to WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia and IBF champion Lamont Peterson before he steps up in weight to the welterweight division.

Khan doesn’t mention wanting to try and avenge his knockout loss to Breidis Prescott, oddly enough.

Khan said to espn.co.uk “I still want to fight at 140 pounds and win titles before I look at stepping up. I am still happy at this weight but not many fighters want to take me on. The main two I want are Peterson and Garcia, but they couldn’t happen at this time.”

My take on the Lamont Petersen Scandal

Image: My take on the Lamont Petersen ScandalBy Andrew Morrow: I recently read an article on this site which criticized the biased nature in which one particular contributor writes about heavyweight hopeful Deontay Wilder. This same idiot author wrote an article defending Lamont Petersen’s use of steroids. This author argues against this clown’s view.

Khan: Peterson should be punished for what he did

Image: Khan: Peterson should be punished for what he didBy William Mackay: Amir Khan is still unhappy about learning the facts about Lamont Peterson having tested positive for synthetic testosterone recently. Khan wants Peterson to be punished, although that obviously won’t change anything about how Peterson made Khan look so bad last December. They can punish Peterson, but the fact remains he beat Khan and had him looking panicky.
