Khan vs. Salita: It’s all good for Amir

By Chris Kelly: It’s now a forgone conclusion that Britain’s WBA light-welterweight champion Amir Khan (21-1, 15 KO’s) will be facing Ukrainian born Dimitry Salita (30-0-1, 16 KO’s) in December, in a fight that will probably take place in London, England. This doesn’t make for the most thrilling match-up of Khan’s career granted, but Salita is his mandatory challenger so there is no real getting out of the fight for Khan.

By William Mackay: Light welterweight contender Dmitry Salita (30-0-1, 16 KO’s) is concerned about his planned upcoming bout against World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (21-1, 15 KO’s), thinking that some sports writers may refer to the bout as a Jew vs. a Muslim, according to the Jewish Telegraph. Salita, 27, is Jewish, whereas Khan is a Muslim.

By William Mackay: It’s looking more and more that WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (21-1, 15 KO’s) will be facing Ukrainian born Dimitry Salita (30-0-1, 16 KO’s) in December in a fight that will probably take place in London, England. For boxing fans, this is probably not good news because fans had been hoping that they’d see Khan matched against a higher quality opponent than this, someone like Ricky Hatton, Timothy Bradley, Kendall Holt, or at the very least, Marcos Maidana.
