By Scott Gilfoid: Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder will be in attendance for this month’s fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs) says he’d like to get inside the ring afterwards to be with the fighters, but he wants to be respectful of them. The 6’7” Wilder is hoping to face the Joshua-Klitschko winner in a unification fight in 2017 if possible.

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF light welterweight champion Julius Indongo (22-0, 15 KOs) put on a masterful performance in beating WBA World 140-pound champion Ricky Burns (41-6-1, 14 KOs) by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night in their unification fight at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. The judges scored the fight 120-108, 118-110 and 116-112. The last score didn’t make much sense, as Indongo clearly won all 12 rounds of the fight.

By Scott Gilfoid: IBO/WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns (41-5-1, 14 KOs) is not concerned with the punching power of his opponent IBF champion Julius Indongo (21-0, 15 KOs) in their unification fight for this Saturday night at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Indongo, 34, has some boxing fans thinking he’s a big puncher after his 1st round knockout victory over former IBF 140lb champion Eduard Troyanovsky last December.

Ricky Burns fights Julius Indongo on April 15

Image: Ricky Burns fights Julius Indongo on April 15

By Scott Gilfoid: As I already predicted, WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns will be fighting a unification match against IBF 140lb champion Julius Indongo on April 15 at the SSE Hydro, in Glasgow, Scotland. The news was officially announced today, but it’s been widely known for weeks that this would be the next fight for the 33-year-old Burns.

While some boxing fans are jumping up and down with glee that Burns is facing a talented fighter in Indongo (21-0, 11 KOs), I’m not that excited. Indongo’s 1st round knockout win over former IBF light welterweight champion Eduard Troyanovsky last month on December 3, it wasn’t an indication of the actual talent level of Indongo.

Image: Ricky Burns vs. Julius Indongo in the works for April

By Scott Gilfoid: A unification fight between WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns and IBF champ Julius Indongo is in the works for April, according to Burns’ manager Alex Morrison. The Burns- Indongo match-up will take place in Glasgow, Scotland. That’s here Burns lives, and it would obviously give him a tremendous advantage over the 33-year-old Indongo (21-0, 11 KOs).

The idea is for Burns to beat Indongo, and then move forward to a big fight in Las Vegas, Nevada later this year against possibly former four division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner. Burns was mentioned as a possibility last week by Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach as one of the two options for his April 23 fight. However, it now looks like Pacquiao will be fighting little known Australian Jeff Horn on that date in Brisbane, Australia.
