By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn sounded bummed out on Thursday in talking about Wladimir Klitschko’s decision to retire from boxing instead of continuing on for one last fight against Joshua. Having to fight Pulev instead of Klitschko is a huge buzz-kill for the 27-year-old Joshua. He doesn’t get a chance to show that he’s a better fighter than the one that was decked by Wladimir last April. It’s got to be tough for Joshua. Wladimir lost the fight, but ultimately came out of the fight with more respect from the boxing fans.

By Jeff Aranow: If everything goes right for IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (18-0, 18 KOs) in his fight against Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) on April 29, he could be facing his IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev (24-1, 13 KOs) in the summer time in the UK. Pulev recently beat Samuel Peter and Dereck Chisora to put himself in the lead position for a title shot against Joshua.

Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Joshua, thinks it’s possible for the 27-year-old Joshua to fight Wladimir, Pulev and WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder all in 2017. That would be a big year for Joshua if he can take all of those fights. For all intents and purposes, Joshua would clear out the heavyweight division if he can beat those three heavyweights next year.

By Jeff Aranow: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is interested in potentially making a huge heavyweight triple-header on November 26, with IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev (23-1, 12 KOs) headlining at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in late November or December. Also on the card, British heavyweights Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora is in play. A match between heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker is another one of the fights for the card. Discussions are being held for the fights, and it would be a pretty big deal if the card comes off.

Parker, 24, is Joshua’s IBF mandatory challenger, but Hearn will likely wait until early 2017 before he puts the fight together between them. In the meantime, Parker can get some valuable air time on Sky Box Office if he fights the 6’8” Price on the undercard of the Joshua-Pulev card. Price, 33, wants a title shot against Joshua, and if he can beat Parker, he would earn the fight.
