By Scott Gilfoid: After having faced 5 soft opponents in his last 5 fights to get to this WBO heavyweight eliminator, Dereck Chisora (20-4, 13 KO’s) feels he’s going to KO Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KO’s) next month on 7/26 in Manchester, UK. Chisora says he’s going to go after the 6’9” Fury and work him over on the inside to prevent him from using his long reach like he did the last time they fought each other several years ago.

Chisora looked pretty helpless in that fight, and was never competitive even for an instant. Why the two fighters are facing each other again is anyone’s guess. Fury beat Chisora like a drum in 2011, and when you get beat like that, normally you don’t have rematches.

By Scott Gilfoid: The British Boxing Board of Control has approved a request for the fight between Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KO’s) and Dereck Chisora (20-4, 13 KO’s) to have the British heavyweight title on the line, according to the Lancaster Guardian. Chisora’s promoter asked to have the British title on the line, and BBBofC granted it. It’s hard to imagine why Fury and Chisora would want to fight for the British title, because they should be aiming a tad bit higher than a domestic level strap, shouldn’t they?

I tend to see fighters that go after British straps as either guys just starting out or fighters that don’t have the talent to go after world title straps. Is this the ultimate fate of Chisora and Fury with them fighting it out for a British title? Chisora is 30-years-old, and it’s difficult to imagine why he’d want to be fighting for a British title, especially when he’s holding the EBU title.

By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) thinks that his fight with EBU heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (19-4, 13 KO’s) this Summer will be a heavyweight World title eliminator bout to lock the winner into becoming a mandatory challenger for one of the champions. Fury isn’t saying which champion that this so-called eliminator will be for, but I think the only one possible is Wladimir Klitschko for his WBO strap.

Chisora is ranked #2 by the WBO, whereas Fury is ranked #7 by the same organization. Why the World Boxing Organization would like Chisora fight someone ranked as low as Fury in the WBO title eliminator bout is hard to say. I mean, Andy Ruiz, #3 WBO, and Deontay Wilder, #4 WBO, would have to be completely skipped over by the WBO if the Chisora-Fury fight were to be a WBO eliminator bout, and that’s not right.

By Olly Campbell: With today’s announcement that British Heavyweight Tyson Fury (21-0, 15KOs) has inked a promotional deal with Frank Warren’s Queensbury promotions, the answer to a question I posed recently on this site, (What’s Next For Tyson Fury?) has become just that little bit clearer.

At today’s press conference ahead of Feb 15th’s “Rock The Box 3” show at the Copper Box arena, London, UK, Warren told the assembled press of his intention to once again match Fury with EBU heavyweight champ Dereck Chisora (19-4, 13KOs) in a repeat of their 2011 British title clash.Warren told IFLtv he intends for a June clash to be a final eliminator for the WBC strap to be contested by America’s Chris Arreola and Canadian Bermane Stiverne. This is of course, if both men come through clashes on the February show; Chisora against unbeaten Ukrainian Andriy Rudenko (24-0, ) and Fury against an as yet unnamed “international” opponent.

By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) is all bent out of shape because the WBC dropped him to the No. 8 spot in their rankings recently following Fury’s blabbering about retiring from boxing due to his two fights with David Haye not materializing.

Fury now finds himself way down in the pack for a shot at the WBC heavyweight strap, which is the belt that Fury really wanted. But with his low rankings, Fury won’t be fighting for the WBC title for at least 2 years unless he’s given a chance to fight for the title in an optional defense for the winner of the Bermane Stiverne and Chris Arreola fight.
