Hearn targeting Erkan Teper for Anthony Joshua

teperBy Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated #2 WBC heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua (13-0, 13 KOs) has a mismatch scheduled for September 12th against undefeated but very, very limited Gary Cornish (21-0, 12 KOs) for the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn says that newly crowned EBU heavyweight champion Erkan Teper (15-0, 10 KOs) is someone that he is targeting for Joshua later on down the line.

After Joshua gets past Cornish, he has a fight for the vacant British heavyweight title against unbeaten talent Dillian Whyte (14-0, 11 KOs) for November or December this year. If Joshua wins that fight, he’d have both the Commonwealth and British titles in his possession.

The Price isn’t right: David Price obliterated in Germany

1-Photo (9)

By Daniel Reed: Named ESPN’s prospect of the year back in 2012, the sky seemed to be the limit for David Price. Riding a 9 fight knockout streak into 2013, the buzz was beginning to really gather around him, and he seemed, at the time, to be Britain’s best hope of claiming the heavyweight crown–with many rating him above Tyson Fury. The 2006 Commonwealth Games Champion, and a Super-Heavyweight Bronze medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games, Price had the background, and he seemed to have the goods to make it to the top.

Erkan Teper destroys David Price in 2nd round

price6666By Scott Gilfoid: As expected, David Price (19-3, 16 KOs) was totally obliterated tonight by unbeaten Germany knockout artist Erkan Teper (15-0, 10 KOs) in getting destroyed in just two rounds on Friday in a fight for the vacant European Boxing Union title at the Ludwigsburg MHP Arena, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg.

Teper flattened Price with a tremendous left hook to the head early in the 2nd round that put Price down flat on his back on the canvas. Price was so badly hurt that he couldn’t get up for a while and the referee immediately halted the bout to have Price looked at.

David Price not worried about Erkan Teper’s power

price44(Photo credit: Team Sauerland) By Scott Gilfoid: David Price (19-2, 16 KOs) says he’s not worried at all about the punching power of his opponent Erkan Teper (14-0, 9 KOs) in their fight tonight for the vacant European Boxing Union heavyweight title at the Ludwigsburg MHP Arena, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg.

Price has shown to have to have a chin problem in his past fights in getting stopped twice by Tony Thompson, the only fighter he’s faced thus far that has even a hint of punching power. In tonight’s fight, Price will be facing a better puncher than Thompson in 33-year-old Teper.

David Price faces Erkan Teper this Friday, July 17th in Ludwigsburg, Germany

price7(Photo Wende) By Scott Gilfoid: #8 IBF, #11 WBO, #14 WBA heavyweight contender David Price (19-2, 16 KOs) has been slowly rebuilding his career for the past two years since his defeats at the hands of the 40+ Tony Thompson in 2013. After fighting four consecutive lower level opponents, the 32-year-old Price will finally be taking a decent step up in class in facing the 6’5” Erkan Teper (14-0, 9 KOs) this Friday night on July 17th in a battle for the vacant European heavyweight title at the MHP Arena in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

Price is pretty excited about the fight, even though it’s one that he should have taken at least two years ago instead of facing Thompson. The natural progression from going from Audley Harrison and Matt Skelton, the fighters that Price had beaten in back to back fights in 2012, was for Price to fight the likes of Teper, not Thompson.

David Price: I’m 100% confident I’ll beat Erkan Teper

price667(Photo credit: Wende) By Scott Gilfoid: Fringe heavyweight contender David Price (19-2, 16 KOs) is really excited about his fight next month on July 17th against unbeaten 6’5” Erkan Teper (14-0, 9 KOs) at the Ludwigsburg MHP Arena, Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Price and Teper are fighting for the vacant European heavyweight title. While that normally wouldn’t be a big deal for some heights that have higher aspirations, it’s a big deal to the 6’8” Price. He wants to be the first heavyweight from Liverpool to win the European title. It’s going to be awfully tough for Price to win this fight though because Teper is a big puncher, and he’s very likely going to KO Price unless he meets him in the center of the ring and blasts him out first.

David Price returns to Liverpool on June 26 to fight for European Title

price1234By Adam Mccoy: Liverpool is in for a treat on June 26th when David Price will return home for his first bout in the UK for almost two years. Price was considered to be a true heavyweight contender and a potential threat to the kiltschko era before suffering consecutive KO defeats to Tony Thompson. The first fight left many unanswered questions due to the nature of the ending.

The rematch was arranged in the same venue and to answer the critics who claimed “lucky punch” Thompson showed just how wrong every one truly was. Price managed to score a knockdown but made the mistake of going for the knockout instantly. We then all realized how bad his flaws really are.
